I am a relatively new golfer and I don’t have a lot of simulator experience however I tried a garmin R10 and could not get it to work in my small space in my garage. I don’t have a full sim setup, just a mat and net and now a Skytrak and iPad. This however works like a Charm, makes sure I don’t bake a slice into my swing when I can’t make it out to the course/range. It catches all the swings that matter and the only misses where ones I would have not wanted to remember anyway since topped shots (Tom Brady) do not get recorded. Might be on purpose but not an issue for me. I love the club path data and launch angle to really help me see what I am doing right or wrong. I haven’t figured out how to log my daughter and wife in so our averages dont mix yet but they enjoy it as well. It works best with an ipad but pc worked as well. I don’t have an issue with the slight delay at all. It’s light, would get a case with it since it sits forward of the ball and nasty slice would cause an issue I imagine. I had no issues reading yellow, red or white balls that I have tried. Would like sky team to add angle of attack and and face impact in the future to perfect it. ... show more

Have probably written less than 10 reviews in my life, this definitely merits the effort. Had high hopes, and was let down. Used this almost every day for the first week and had almost no issues, maybe only 1 of 10 shots not detected, and those were all duffs. Week 2 was wildly different. I’m at the point where it detects 1 of 10 shots, at best. No change in setup. The device is set up IAW the manufacturer specifications. I thought, maybe the addition of the protective case is the problem. Nope, no change to shot detection when the case was removed. I’ve messed with this thing as much as humanly possible. Utilizing direct connection to my iPad to remove the possibility of a weak internet connection. Have scoured YouTube, chat forums, and even the disappointing manufacturer website, and have yet to find a resolution. Wiped off any potential debris from the hitting mat on the sensor screens, didn’t improve anything. Manufacturers website is largely a useless website for finding good setup information or issue resolution information. Ended up purchasing the membership and access to third party apps for course play after the first week. Spent 4 hours trying to get SkyTrak + connected to WGT Golf. Had to set up a second account with WGT Golf before the app wanted to actually connect to and sync with the SkyTrak. Bottom line, I expect a user friendly, intuitive product when I pay this much money. Certainly, I expect something that works as it should. This product, does not. Not sure if I’m going to look at an alternative product, or wait till these mid-range simulators improve in technology and quality. Unfortunately, not a ton of options that connect to the iPad. Continually misses 12% of swings if and when it is working. Frustrating to set up. Tech support Frustrating and no weekend hours. Does not stay connected to internet so can not be used to play games which are fee based and require additional software from additional vendor. For the price of SkyTrak+, this does have a lot of very good features. But, as the title implies, getting started is at best vague and in most cases completely missing. Very, very unimpressed with the level of care for this kind of money. All the startup cares about is getting you on one of their plans. Kind of hard to do when it takes a few weeks to get things figured out. 1. Startup PDF’s are worthless. Way over simplified and they miss key steps. 2. For a few days after I finally figured out Network mode, nothing happened. Well, there’s a huge lag (the app is clunky, slow, and unhelpful), I tried the Help line, was 1st in line, wait was 6 minutes, then 20 minutes later I hung up. 3. I called a friend that recommended SkyTrack and he said he always uses Direct mode. That’s a big thing to know. Finally got things going with Direct Mode. 4. Getting Direct or Network mode going is a trick. Start the app first, then the box, if that fails, close the app and start the box, then the app. Next I need to stand on one leg with an aluminum hat… 5. One major point that is nowhere in the instructions is that the SkyTrak absolutely must be on the same level as the hitting surface. To someone with their first simulator, this is quite important if you have a hitting mat, then the ST sits on the garage floor. You must buy the ST mounting box if this is the case. By the way, the protection bar is right around where you plug in the power cord to the ST and cycle the power. Not well thought out. 6. No discussion on when you are ok to place the ball and the app doesn’t show its ready or not. The ST check light is green, but I have no idea if the app will work or not. Once again, app is crap. In fact, there is no discussion on anything when the ST is ready. What does the purple check mean?? 7. I had to go to 3rd party YouTube to get an idea of where to place the ball, the hitting area, where I should place the dot for a turf tee, etc. Nothing, nada. 8. I really believe the alignment isn’t quite true. I see my ball going right, but the app says going left. Just finding this hard to believe and I am absolutely sure there is nothing in the app to help me there. 9. I’m still working on figuring out what good the website is for. But, like everything, I just keep blindly wandering around until I find something. As I mentioned, overall now that I’m going (just using Practice mode for now) this has helped and I thing I will be getting better having the ST. But, the Product Manager for ST really needs to build up how a new customer gets acquainted. I’ve been holding off for a few years to get this and very excited when I finally got it.
