I use similar tape around aviation wiring and love it. Found this silicone tape on Amazon and have been using it for all my home and automotive wiring where I want to protect connections. I've also used it on a few areas where exhaust heat was an issue. It helps prevent direct contact from the heat and provides some insulation qualities.     • Versatile self-fusing tape
I had some insulated wires inside some brittle outer insulation, and this went over the brittle insulation perfectly. It isn’t pretty but it does the job where a mere replacement is unavailable at any price. Your uses are limited only by your imagination.

    • Works great on pull up bar.
My pull up bar sleeves were tearing out on the edges and their replacements were expensive (almost half the price a new pull up bar). So instead of buying new sleeves, I bought this and wrapped it around the existing sleeve and it works great. Gives actually a better grip than the original sleeves.

I used This to wrapt my antifreeze hose by the motorcycle - wrapped it twice and not even one drop - works phenomenal- you have to pull / stretch just enough to get that tight seal, sticks w/in seconds and cures w/in hours.
