  • GREAT lawnmower! If you're thinking of switching from gas... do it!
I'm a gearhead at heart. If it has an engine - I love it. I love tinkering with it, fixing it, keeping it running, all of it. That's how I was with my old push mower... until I got this. We have a small side yard that is a bit of a pain to mow with my beloved zero turn and with the old push mower that we had salvaged many years ago, it took about 15-20 minutes to mow. As beloved as it is, the old push mower is held together with duct tape and baling twine and is about on it's last let, but as stated - I love tinkering with things and trying to keep them running. BUT... as I have been slowly making the switch to battery powered on some of my other smaller lawn tools (weed eater, pole saw, small chain saw and small leaf blower), I decided to take the plunge on the push mower - and I am sure glad I did. A few quick pros and cons: - Much lighter weight than my old mower. The model I got is NOT self-propelled, but is easier to push than my gas mower which IS self propelled. - Cut quality seems good - though it is with a new blade. Given the size of the side yard I mow, I normally leave it in mulch mode, but the side discharge adapter goes on and off very easily. - The battery charged quickly with the included charger and installs very easily. - the onboard display shows how much battery is remaining. I believe this mower states that it should last about an hour. It took me about 15-20 min to mow my yard and the display showed 3/4 battery left, so that is about right. - You are able to choose between 3 settings: economy, normal and turbo (I think I got the terms right). I mowed in normal and it seemed to do a good job. - Has a headlight if you need it. Not sure how bright it is as I don't generally mow in the dark... but you could without disturbing your neighbors with this as it is MUCH quieter than a gas mower. - The handle folds flat for storing and has two positions to mow with depending on your height/comfort - It comes essentially 100% assembled. Cons: - While it includes a grass catcher bag, I probably won't use it as it seems as if it would fill up quickly. If you had a small yard though and mowed often, it would probably work for you. - Not sure on blade tip speed but most of my other battery powered lawn tools tend to be slower than their gas counterpart. The turbo setting would probably be your best bet to overcome this but obviously that will affect your battery life. - The height selection level is very easy to use and feels as if it is spring loaded, but there are only numbers listed. Would be nice if it listed the height in inches. I feel as if I have rambled enough here. Bottom line, this mower is much nicer than I ever anticipated and I would recommend and buy again in a heart beat! ... show more

  • Taking the short cut
Gas powered lawnmowers are noisy and smelly, and cause a disproportionate amount of air pollution. The electric alternatives available today make it easier to switch. The Senix X6 has a brushless motor for longevity and operates with a 60 volt battery. A single charged 8 Ah battery is enough to run for about an hour. That's plenty of time to cut my lawn. If you need more runtime, you can opt for a second battery. The mower can be set up for rear or side discharge, and includes a bag for clippings. But most importantly it works as a mulching mower, so you can cut the lawn without collecting the waste. I'm not a law maintenance enthusiast, so mulching as I cut eliminates a lot of extra work. Most gas mowers have a steel deck, which will certainly rust through in a few years unless you clean and dry it every time you use it. A magnesium-aluminum alloy deck adds considerable more cost. The Senix X6 has a heavy plastic deck which is durable, and you can be sure it's rustproof. This is not a self-propelled model (one is available) but it's easy enough to push. Another advantage over a gas mower is that it's always easy to start, even when sitting on the grass. I always have to drag my gas mower to a sidewalk or driveway to start it. The electric mower starts and runs wherever I have it. Like any mower it has multiple height adjustments. The battery has a charge level indicator so you know how much power you have left. My favorite feature is how it folds for storage, in a compact and easy to move form. The Senix X6 mower has removed the need for me to fuel using gasoline, saving a substantial amount of money, toxicity, and spillage. With zero emissions you can walk behind this mower even with asthma or other breathing problems. ... show more

  • The mower works very well; I had an issue with the charger
Looking at just the mower, I am impressed. It is solidly built, the handles are at a good height, there are handle release levers to fold up the handle (very nicely positioned and they work well), the battery slides into a nice compartment, and the control panel is right in front of you to turn on change the power level. It operates fairly quietly, but the blades run at a good speed (I mainly use the 'normal' speed) and it has been cutting my lawn very well. I am using the mulcher insert, which seems to be doing just fine; I have not used the cuttings bag at all. If you have a mostly flat lawn, you should be fine... but if you have some hills or you'd prefer not to exert so much energy, you might consider getting the model with a power drive (I have not used it though and I can't give you my opinion of it -- my guess would be that it works the same except that the battery would/should run out faster). I did have a problem though -- the battery charger did not work; it would flash the red light, which means (according to the manual) that either the battery is bad or the charger is bad. Well, the battery works fine and I did charge it back up on another Senix charger that I luckily had from another product, so the charger was defective. If the charger worked fine, this would have earned a 5 star rating from me (it's all a package deal, so this defect had to knock the score down). ... show more
