  • Best saw I've owned
I started with a Ryobi 16", it cut smaller trees and branches OK, but it had problems restarting after it shut off. Very frustrating. Went to Home Depot, bought their best (most expensive) chainsaw, an Echo 18". The chain fell off in 20 minutes. Got my money back, bought this for about $100 more than the Echo, and it seems to be worth every penny. This is a 20" chain bar, bigger engine, so it weighs more than the homeowner versions. So I won't climb trees with it. There are pro models for that anyway. This cut through a felled tree 18" in diameter like it was rotten. It isn't, but the ease and speed of the cut make the weight/power ratio outstanding. I'm usually cutting felled trees, so weight isn't the primary concern, the length of time I'm bending over is much more important. It cut 5" branches in 2 seconds, cut through the 18" trunk in about 45 seconds. This was a great investment in my mind. Lots of power, bigger fuel tank than the Ryobi. great saw overall. ... show more

  • Plenty of power for most of my needs
I bought this chainsaw two years ago and wanted to wait to write a review based on experience. First, it has the power I need to drop up to 24" diameter chestnut oak trees. This is pretty hard wood, so a sharp chain is a must. I have not found the chainsaw to be under-powered (so far). I live on 40+ acres of woodland, mostly hardwood, and burn a lot of firewood, so this saw has gotten a workout. I can't say how it would perform for a professional, but as a homeowner/rancher, it's all I need (again, so far). Pros: - Not too heavy. - Plenty of power. - Starts easily (even after two years) - With a sharp chain, it cuts quickly - Low vibration isn't a joke Cons: - Chain dulls fairly quickly and aftermarket chains are difficult to find at the home center That's about it - this saw is great for my needs. ... show more

  • One of the best all around home chain saws I have owned
This is the third Rancher I have owned. The previous two were victims of family that assured me they knew everything they needed to know to use them and proceeded to put in regular gas. These ranchers always start. work hard all day long and wear well. I will continue with this one for years to come! ... show more

  • Powerful, light, low vibration. Perfect!
Can’t say enough about this saw. Amazing power to weight ratio. Starts easy hot or cold. Oiling system works as advertised. I recommend the Husqvarna 3/16 file sharpening kit that includes the guide. To those leaving reviews about the saw not having the “farm tough” bar as in the picture. I was at Lowe’s yesterday and this same exact saw had the farm tough blade as the picture on the outside of the box, but had the standard bar on the saw that didn’t say farm tough. Has nothing to do with the seller. This is the current rancher 450 model. ... show more

  • It runs good until it gets hot
Had the saw for about 5 months with less than 10 hours on it and the thing is acting up. It runs good until it gets hot, then when I shot it down I can not restart it. Changed plug, air filter fuel filter and still the same problem. My return window closed in January 31 and im stuck with it. Hopefully Amazon will contact me with some kind of solution. Besides that it is a great saw with plenty of power. I will upgrade my review once I solve the problem. Contacted Amazon told them what the problem was, they sent me a brand new saw. So far it has been good. No problems. Five stars for amazon because they took care of the problem very quickly. Zero stars for husqvarna. Well it's May 2020 the second saw started acting up same problem as before. When the saw gets hot it won't start. I have to hold the throttle and pull the start cord at the same time to start it. The saw has less than 15 hours run time. I have a smaller model which is about 20 years old and never had a problem with it. Done buying Husqvarna products. ... show more

  • Didn't come with the Farm Tough Bar. Only the standard
I ordered this because it was cheaper than my local store. I found a few days after using it that the bar that it came with is not a Farm Tough bar. The Farm Tough bar has 5 bearings in the end and the standard bar only has four. The chainsaw is great and I probably would have bought it anyway but the Farm Tough bar will now cost me an additional $40 if I want to upgrade it. ... show more

  • Good saw
Skips the chain more often than my stihl but run s really good and fires right up ..of course it's cold blooded and you should give it 30 seconds to warm up.

  • Better than my Stihl
A good saw and much better than my older Stihl 310. Arrived quickly and put it to work the next day. Like I said a very good saw but now wish I would have got the 455. A few extra Hp and decompression valve are worth the extra amount. I heat with wood and try to keep 5-6 cords on hand, which for me is about a 3 year supply. Like well seasoned dry wood and mainly cut oak & hickory. ... show more
