  • Honda motor starts easy, every time.
Style: 4200 PSI HONDA GX390
Bought specifically for the Honda motor. Same motor as my concrete cutting wet saw, so much better than many other motors. This 4kpsi/4gpm unit has awesome high pressure and flow compared to my previous box store lower pressure/flow gas engine unit that it replaced. Able to do the work much faster with this always-ready/reliable starting, high quality tool. My surface cleaner attachment really worked great with the increased pressure and flow. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Great quality!
Style: 3300 PSI Honda GX200
Finally replaced my janky old pressure washer that I could barely keep running.. It quit on me in the middle of a job and it was time for it to be retired. Purchased this one, shipped to my house quickly. The triplex pump makes great, consistent pressure that is easily controlled. The Honda motor is of legendary reliability. Fires on the first pull, runs hard, and is fuel efficient. This washer works better than others I've owned. It is more expensive, but worth it. Make sure to run ethanol-free fuel (TruFuel if you're unlucky enough to not have it available at the pump near you..) and keep the pump healthy with anti-freeze in the winter. My only gripe is the same gripe I have with every pressure washer - the inflexible and hard to store hose. There are aftermarket options available but I haven't tried one yet. You won't be disappointed in this unit if you need a better washer than what you can get at a big box or home improvement store. ... show more

  • Save your money - don’t buy Simpson
Style: 3300 PSI Honda GX200
Have written and updated this four times now and still not showing up in reviews for some reason. Last attempt. I originally posted some comments and described the failure of my machine; withholding full review unit seeing how Simpson supports their products. Now I’m documenting the answer to that… Here is how Simpson pitches this machine: “ The SIMPSON® PowerShot™ Series is designed to meet the rigorous demands of the cleaning pro. Heavy-duty pressure washers with flow and reliability.” They go on to say how this is a great tool for contractors. And this is why I bought this model - though I’m only using it around my home, I wanted a product designed to provide long lasting performance, reliability and durability. Well, friends - this isn’t it. After only two years my pressure washer pump has failed; it has water leaking into the pump oil and Simpson Customer Service informed me it’s caused by a leaking seal or piston issue - and these are wear items so they won’t cover it. The rigorous demands of the cleaning pro is interpreted to mean wearing out after two years is acceptable. I’m a mechanical engineer and worked for 30 years in the HD diesel engine industry so I am familiar with mechanical products, duty cycles and wear. This product failing at two years is “premature wear” especially in light of the relatively light duty cycle it’s experienced. Contractors could not afford to spend money on a product that fails in two years. So if you’re considering a purchase I recommend you save some money and opt for one of the many lower priced options available. I’ve been using a good number of tools from Harbor Freight as of late with good results. Lower priced and performing well —————————————————————— Original post: I bought this two years ago and it’s performed well, but yesterday I looked at the sight glass to check pump oil and couldn’t see anything; the glass looked white. So this morning I drained the pump oil and it came out milky white as shown. My understanding is this means water has gotten into the pump mechanism and based on the color and froth - especially after sitting overnight - I don’t think this could be from a little internal condensation, but from a bad seal in the pump. I imagine this would quickly cause damage to the pump, too, so assume warranty service is at minimum a complete rebuild or replacement of pump. I’ve drained and replaced the oil before and it was fine. I emailed customer support this morning on how to obtain warranty service as this should have a 5-year warranty on the pump. I will revisit review after seeing how they respond. Coincidentally - this afternoon I am due to receive a new pump for my old Excell pressure washer with Honda engine. Engine is still fine and pump gave out after more than a decade. And it was an oil-less pump so never had to service it. So by tomorrow sometime I should have that one back up and running with an upgraded pump. ... show more

  • OMG, why did I wait to get this?
Style: 4200 PSI HONDA GX390
I have has a smaller electric unit (Westinghouse 2K), which I still love and will use a lot for smaller jobs. However I have a lot of hard surfaces on my property and, living in the Pacific NW with the rain, trees and shade means I also have a LOT of moss and other organic buildup to deal with. I have done a lot of research. I've purchased other pressure washers. I finally decided to make the investment in a commercial grade machine because I wasn't getting the results I wanted in any reasonable amount of time and my electric simply doesn't drive a surface cleaner. Manually wanding my driveway was taking days with the electric and that was just focusing on the most important areas. So, with some advice of a trusted friend who owns a rental company, I decided to take the plunge on something with enough pressure (4k PSI) and GPM (3.5 or more) to make a meaningful impact. All I can say is: Wow! In the first 3.5 hours of use, coupled with the Mekoh 18" surface cleaner, I was able to clean 3 times the amount of moss-coated (thick in many spots) surface compared to the surface cleaned in 3+ days manually wanding. I also have a sports court which needs love and will be my next tackle. The obvious concern I've had is not stripping off the paint, but still getting the surface clean. So I wanted something I could "back down". While the pump on the 4240 has a regulator, I actually purchased the Simpson pressure regulator and it seems to work quite well. I suppose I could use the pump regulator in tandem with the extra in-line Simpson regulator to really dial it in, but I'd prefer not to muck about with the pumps factory settings. To address some of the concerns I've seen in other reviews: the unit arrived in excellent condition obviously all new and delivered on time. The modest assembly of the draw bar and wand and hose caddy was a matter of two minutes, easy peasy. The Honda engine instructions and the Simpson quick start guide were easy to follow in terms of adding the oil, fuel and then start up. Start up was just as straightforwardas the manual said, and, as long as I was following those instructions [ahem], it started on the first pull every time. I did make a note that others had said it's helpful to pull the trigger when starting and so I did that (but not always, and even when I didn't, and I had the switches and throttles in the right position, it still started on the first pull). While I have only used it for a short time, there was absolutely no evidence of oil leaking or any of the other mechanical issues mentioned. If this changes over time, I'll come back and edit this review. Everything about the pressure washer is commercial/contractor grade. The Monster hose is just that - it seems like it will withstand anything but does take extra effort to maneuver. In all, the unit does require strength and some stamina to operate (because it's so strong) and you'll need a ramp or some help to get it into the back of a pickup. But if you compare it's effectiveness and the substantial reduction of time, I'd say overall that it takes much less effort to get amazing results than less powerful models. Bottom line: if you're tired of putting up with lesser units, and have the budget for this fantastic monster, I highly recommend it. ... show more
