Thermostat prices for even basic ones is outrageous!!! This one is a must buy! Easy basic install. Directions for setup easy, did that before I even installed it. Put batteries in to program and see how the temperature variance was before I installed. Let it sit on top of my old one for a couple days to see how it read room temps compared to my old one that would get stuck on a temp and run forever. … side note….take out the batteries once installed! not require for operation. Better that all those basic ones costing $80 or more ... show more

    • This has an emergency heat function.
I put in a new heat pump and wanted a new thermostat to go with it. I wanted a four position mode switch, one with emergency heat for when the outside unit gets snowed on. I am impressed with how well this keeps the actual temp matched to the requested temp. I fine tuned it with the setup program to match my new system and the drafty house. This is a excellent choice for a inexpensive heat pump thermostat, it took less than 10 minutes to install and it's your basic non prograble thermostat, for people that has trouble programming anything or who don't want a very expensive thermostat this is the one to buy, the price is excellent and it's a very good looking thermostat ... show more

    • Temperature off, didn't work properly with heat pump
My heat pump is a two-stage aux heater, O is 0 volts for heat, and 24 volts for cool. Hooking up the thermostat easy enough, but the first thing I noticed was that it read the ambient temperature poorly. My 71-degree room was showing as 73 degrees. Okay, no problem, to test the heat I put the set point at 74 degrees - the Heat pump came on, but was pushing cold air. I gave it a while. I thought, perhaps this thing is backwards, so I tried the A/C after a while - it also pumped the same cold air. So I gave up, put the old thermostat back in and reheated my now cold house. Garbage. You get what you pay for - In my case, this would work for an A/C unit, but not for heat. ... show more
