    • Back in the 70s my dad had a lightweight Japanese chainsaw...
When my Stihl trimmer gave up the ghost, after being a pain in the *** for a long time, I decided to switch brands. My dad had a little Echo chainsaw way back in the 70s, and it was the first chainsaw I ever used. It was lightweight compared to the massive McCullough he also had, and I made some good money going around the neighborhood and cutting up firewood. I realize that was a long time ago, and that old chainsaw was entirely made of metal, while this new trimmer has its far share of plastic. But I think the quality pulls through. This trimmer is much lighter than the Stihl, and even better, I can change out the string much easier on this version than the Stihl. It's easy to start, the instructions are easy to understand, and I think this brand is more consumer friendly, especially for new users. Having said this, this Echo is only for yards and small jobs. The Stihl was a professional version like you see on a landscape truck. Either way, I'm not going back. 5/5* ... show more

Echo SRM-225 21.2 Gas Power Straight Shaft weed eater has plenty of power to tackle cutting in tall grass. Starts easily on one or two pulls of the rope string. This replaced an older Stihl weed eater that I had for 17 years. Compared to the Stihl I have, this is lighter in weight. has more power, and is considerably much easier to start. It is virtually vibration free so makes using it easy on the hands. Glad I made the decision to switch to an Echo weed trimmer. This comes with a five year consumer warranty.
