🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviews for the e-scooter series (including G2 and G30 Max) are overwhelmingly positive, highlighting its substantial upgrades in comfort, durability, and user-friendliness particularly for urban commuting. Users appreciate the G2's hydraulic suspension, tubeless air-filled tires, and solid build quality that offer a smooth ride over challenging city terrains like NYC's. Despite its weight, seen as a minor drawback, the G2's performance, especially its hill-climbing capability and battery life, receives high praise. The G30 also has its merits, including ease of assembly and long battery life, but falls short in areas like headlight quality and the ergonomic design of its throttle.

Pros

  • 🛴 Hydraulic suspension and tubeless air-filled tires on G2 for a smoother ride over rough surfaces
  • 💨 Great torque and acceleration, making hill climbs in urban settings effortless
  • 🔧 Solid build quality and wobble-free stem, enhancing the scooter's durability
  • 🔋 Long battery life, ensuring extended usage without frequent recharges
  • 👍 User-friendly controls and easy assembly, making it accessible to a wide range of users

Cons

  • 🏋️‍♂️ Heavier weight, particularly the G2, which might be a consideration for those with stair access only
  • 🔦 Poor headlight quality on the G30, necessitating additional purchases for night rides
  • 🕹 Uncomfortable thumb throttle on the G30 that may cause discomfort on longer rides
  • 🚫 Lack of water resistance, limiting usage in wet conditions

Should I Buy It?

If your daily commute involves navigating the urban jungle with its myriad potholes, uneven pavement, and hills, the G2 is an excellent choice for its balance of performance, comfort, and durability. For those prioritizing compact storage and battery life over a plush ride, the G30 also presents a viable option, particularly with its easy setup and user-friendly interface. However, consider additional investments like a better headlight for night-time usage. Given the positive feedback on performance and quality, investing in these scooters, especially the G2 for heavier or more frequent users, seems to be a wise decision for a hassle-free commute.

I went from ebike to this scooter, primarily because of theft, and I'm old and don't like walking much anymore, and this thing just shows me how slow walking actually is. Scooters, by virtue of their size, are really an accessory for your day. It fits under and between everything. Takes me home as fast or faster than public transport, which is acres faster than driving in this city. Short trips from door to door. Longer trips are pure joy, if you stick to bike lanes for most of your trip, just driving this thing is very fun. Its max 22mph which is more than enough to pass cyclists and is faster than running. Dual suspension is very nice, dial it in as per your weight and what terrain your travel on most. Indicators (turn sig) are fab, fairly viewable by drivers behind you, very viewable by drivers in front. Piercing horn, that seems like a joke but actually gets attention within about a 30ft front direction. Tires are, well tires, ive not had to pump since I got it 660 miles ago. Lightly jump up and pull the bars with you to get over small 2" curbs, the suspension helps. Easy to read, Easy to understand, Easy to update, (Segway offer lots of little cool updates and upgrades). Its a bit heavy as a thing in your day, but not a big deal on one or two flights of stairs (if your under 50, double that). Headlight is bright enough for 22mph at night to see about 30ft in front. Rear light is bright easily viewable by drivers , and a choice on how it functions (like a car or a bicycle). Apple FindMy built in! Amazing!! There are other scooters out there for less, that do more, but this is my entry point, and I wanted something I didn't have to think much about. ... show more

  • Great for quick around town runs
Style: MAX G30LP-25 miles
Love this scooter. First one I've ever owned. Gets up to a good speed. Battery lasts. The app didn't seem to actually lock the scooter at beware of that. The scooter is quite big. Haven't found a stand yet that fits it but the folding handle bar helps to minimize storage space. It's also quite heavy so watch those ankles when lifting it over steps. ... show more

  • So much fun, if you’re thinking about it - get it!
Style: MAX G2-43 miles
This thing is totally worth it! It’s so much fun to ride around. The larger size, suspension and build quality make it quite comfortable, even on brick roads. Must have the extended range that this one does, and it’s still not enough. 22 is fast, but I wish it could go faster and last longer. It does have some weight to it, would not recommend to carry it. Have to keep it in sport mode for top speed, but it doesn’t go nearly 40+ miles on a charge when you’re having fun. The performance decreases as the battery drains. ... show more

  • Good range, very smooth quiet ride
Style: MAX G30P-40 miles
I rated this five stars because it does what is advertised, and it is better than I hoped. I bought two of these, one for me and one for my wife. Right out of the box, both were out of alignment...the handlebar didn't align with the front tire. One by a couple of mm, the other by an inch. No worries; it was easy to adjust. Watch out for this though as the scooter is not safe to ride out of alignment. I live in scooter Eutopia: A huge golf cart community in central Florida with hundreds of miles of smooth, dedicated multi-modal paths to ride on. Golf cart speed limit is 20mph, so this scooter holds it own at ~19mph. I have already put 460 miles on the scooter in just a few weeks. When it comes to performance, weight and riding style matter. For your reference I am 6' tall and weigh about 197 lbs. dressed to scoot. My riding style is full out fun. I go as fast as circumstances safely allow, and I land-surf for fun. I do keep to paved surfaces and NEVER jump off curbs or anything like that. (BTW...I'm 60 years old and never had this much fun as a kid!!). The scooter meets the manufacturers claims for speed and distance, but do your research! 40 mile range? Ok, but only in "eco" mode which means no speed (maybe 9mph), no acceleration, no slope climbing at all (you'll be pushing your scooter), and no fun! "Drive" mode gets about 14mph, very little acceleration, a little slope "crawling" but certainly nothing nearing 20 degrees, and minimal fun. 19mph (18.6 per Segway)? Yes, but only in "Sport" mode. With a 40 mile range? Not hardly. More like 18-20 miles, and by the end of that ride you'll be speeding along at maybe 3-5mph. But, you'll sure be having fun, climbing slopes at good speed, keeping out of the way of traffic, and land-surfing with a smile on your face. Honestly, I do not consider "eco" or "drive" modes to be safe to use if there is any automobile traffic in the vicinity. Without torque to provide acceleration, you cannot get out of the way quickly and the lower speeds present more of a hinderance to auto traffic which is just not a good idea. All that to say, I suggest using predominately "Sport" mode as it is truly safer and more fun. There are always exceptions. I occasionally ride on the wildlife trails where I live which are also used by a lot of photographers and walkers. On these trails, I only use "eco" mode in order to keep my speed down and other folks safe. Things I like: Fit, finish, quality all good. Smooth, quiet ride due to hybrid/pneumatic tires and a longer deck/wheel span. Regenerative braking and cruise control (both can be turned on or off...riders choice). Slope climbing ability (Sport Mode only) Acceleration (Sport Mode only) Battery life (when getting back home is more important than having fun) Charging cable without a brick transformer. The loud bell. (which I use to let people know I am coming). Height of the handlebar is perfect (no bending over at all for me). The deck is bigger than most allowing comfortable standing position and weight shifting. Accelerator on the right; brake and bell on the left. Everything handy and not confusing. The iPhone software which maps your rides. Surprising not all scooter software does this. (Hi-boy does not, which frustrates a friend of mine with a Hi-boy S2 Pro). Frankly, there's not much to dislike! Things to improve: Adjustable torque/acceleration in "eco" and "drive" modes (via software? Should be easy to do). Faster charging. If your environment provides you with an opportunity to safely enjoy alternate forms of transportation such as a scooter, then I highly recommend the Segway Ninebot Max (G30). ... show more
