Even though you may get a low ink warning the starter inks should provide over 200+ full coverage prints. Sublimation does not work on cotton or dark fabrics and requires a heat press for application.

Sawgrass Virtuoso systems are the industry’s first and only fully integrated desktop solution designed specifically for sublimation. The perfect printer for hobbyists or moonlighter, the SG500 fits comfortably on a desktop and prints media up to 8.5" x 14". Or expand the max media size to 8.5" x 51" with the bypass tray. The SG500 has been updated inside out from its predecessor, the SG400. The SG500 is backwards-compatible with all SG400 accessories. Like all Sawgrass printers, the SG500 performs its own automatic maintenance cycle for trouble-free printing. Decorate a wide variety of products made from polyester fabrics or polymer-coated rigid media including: Aluminum Panels and Inserts, Hardboard and Wood Plaques, Tile, Mugs, Acrylic, Glass, Slate, Polyester Fabric, and Reinforced Fiberglass Plastic.

The media could not be loaded. I transitioned from a converted Epson printer to the Sawgrass. The ink is more expensive, however, the colors are more true to the image color than my converted printer. The images are crisp, clean, & vivid. I kept both printers until I always chose the Sawgrass over my Epson because I knew the image would be better. My friend now has my old Epson! It was easy to install, there are also videos of you need extra help. I use the Sawgrass print manager which is amazing and automatically flips the images. I love that I can print wireless 🛜! And don't want to jinx it but haven't had to deal with jams. I was extremely disappointed with the starter inks, my alert ⚠️ light lit immediately after all the ink filled the lines. One of my cartridges stayed pretty full so I immediately bought the regular ones for the other 3 colors. If you have the option buy the full size inks! You won't be disappointed. The first install requires a lot of ink to fill the tanks. That's the case only thing I would've done differently (but it was a gift from my husband, so didn't do any research). Anyways, this printer is amazing and I love it! I use it to make gifts and to sell items on my justlovecraftz shop too! ... show more

I love this printer! It is very easy to use and even comes with is own design software. It is a bit pricey but very worth it because of the " virtually maintenance free" features. I would buy again and in have recommended this too others!!

    • Does not live up to the reputation
So disappointed in this printer! It was highly recommended but I disagree. Its supposed to be wireless but cant hold the connection. Horrible software and it was finicky to get it installed on a windows laptop. Ended up having to connect via USB. I tried a few prints and the color was off, not bright and vibrant, but dull. I went through all the set up and service tickets looking for tips and tricks, profiles or techniques. Now the darn thing is telling me the ink is low <starter pack> after maybe 5 prints. Oh, the refill ink pkg is $300 btw. Customer Service was also supposed to be good, not in my experience. After opening a ticket I was asked to provide serial numbers, photos of the machine and ink cartridges, shipping info and my first born only to get a brief response telling me to buy more ink. The print manager is slow and awkward and the "Creative Studio" is more of a 6 floor walk up. The value is just not there for almost $700 for the starter pack. I love this sublimation printer. I purchased it to expand my business. I did a couple of test products using my own dogs as examples on my tumblers and on my tote bags. I'm disappointed that I still can't print on a colored tote bag, but that's okay. Printer was very simple to set up and I was printing within an hour or so of setting it up.     • I waited too long to try it out
I purchased this over a month ago, i have been trying for the last week to be able to print without yellow streaks, unsuccessfully. 30 days past can’t return it and paid so much for it. Easy set up, didn't take too long.

First ever review left. I love the printer. This is actually the second I have bought. The issue is the black was empty even though they said it was a “starter” and I should get 200 prints that is not the case. The first page I printed looked amazing on paper but instead of black, it printed brown to blank in my sublimation blank. It is obviously empty in the cartridge. Very sad as I didn’t even get one print. Let alone 200. The others also so low and so low that the other colors on my print were almost white on the blank. I have been working with Sawgrass printers for over a year so I know the settings on the heat presses and cup presses. The ink is very expensive and after this large purchase I was hoping not to have to buy ink right away. ... show more

    • Wish I could have used it.
So excited to get the printer. I set it up and then alert that ALL my cartridges were near empty. So you get cartridges to set up printer but not to allow jobs to start. If its a bundle pack, you would think it would include enough ink to do one or two projects to start. PLEASE put a disclaimer warning buyers that they need to buy ink to actually use it. ... show more
