Was going to install a rear hitch, but as I had a Honda Fit and Subaru Crosstrek, I wanted to be able to switch between the two cars and not spend so much on a hitch for each car. I got the 3 bike rack and it works with my Dahon folding bike and two kids bikes. I did have to get three top tube adapters to be able to fit the bikes on to the rack. The straps are very long, so I recommend adding some velcro straps to keep them wrapped up. Take your time to adjust the arms for the bikes, as well as the arms of the rack if you have a spoiler on your car. I ended up adding vinyl to my Subaru where the rubberized metal clips attach to the car, as the rubberized metal clips tended to slip around. I ended up adding some paracord to keep the wheels from spinning around. Overall, the rack feels solid when driving. I like that the rack can fold up and doesn't take much space when in storage. ... show more

Biggest concern was the plastic spoiler, upper arms on the Saris bones EX are placed high enough to put little to no pressure on the spoiler. Takes some getting used to securing the rack to vehicle, but after a few times, takes no more than 5 minutes to put it on, less to remove. Rack is very secure when installed properly, I use a bungee and wheel strap for a little extra stability for the bike. I have the 2 bike model, have only needed to carry 1 so far and it's great, no problems. No freeway driving so far, but have driven up to 55mph with no concerns. ... show more

This fits my Mazda CX-7 perfectly. It holds my bike Electra Townie securely. I use the Saris cross bar substitute to make it more level. I chose this one do it could be used on family and friends vehicles too. I use extra tie straps to keep the wheels from turning and bikes tight together, but the built in straps always stay tight and are easy to use. Despite it not being compatible with my vehicle, I did set the rack up and didn't like the system for positioning the arms for the bikes. The plastic scratched easily and none of the parts move smoothly. Once hanging with a bike on it the plastic arms felt a bit soft and are only "locked" in place by plastic screws that could very easily get stripped. If it had been compatible with my van, I likely still would have returned it. I'm not convinced 3 bikes could hang from it and not bounce around like crazy. I blindly followed a link thinking this would work on my Chrysler Pacifica. After mounting it, it just didn't sit right so I checked Saris' website and my car wasn't listed on the compatibility page. I emailed customer support and also called, and got responses from both methods quickly. The person on the phone explained that it wasn't safe to use on my car because the rear hatch is aluminum and not structurally supported so the weight of the bikes could dent it. It works but it was super scary seeing the bikes move around. But it works on my 08 Yaris and 16 Corolla. Just get the hatch huggers for a hatch back and the bar things that goes on the bikes if you have mountain bikes

Drove over 2,000miles with this. Fits my Acura RDX very well (although you can't open the back hatch when it's attached). My electric bicycle was secure and easy to maneuver on this rack. Really pleased with my purchase and will hopefully be using this product for years to come. Cannot comment on it securing two bicycles tho. ... show more

Very easy to assemble and get customized to the car's shape. I bought it for a cross-country drive in a rental car and needed something that would be able to adapt to different car types. This is perfect. Held the bike sturdily. Once I arrived, I picked up another friend with her bike and both bikes stayed on great. No shifting, no worries.     • Poor Quality Control and Not Super Sturdy, but it's Versatile

NOTE: You will need bungee cords or straps (not included) to keep your bikes' front wheels from moving around. I bought this after I had to start borrowing a car that did not have a hitch. I wanted a bike rack that was more versatile than my hitch-mount bike rack -- something I could use on most cars. The Saris Bones EX fit the bill. I bought one of these and had to return it for another one due to Saris' poor quality control. A Committed To Quality card with a hand-initialed QC Check is included with each rack but the QC checks aren't being properly done. Even though they were brand new, the first one smelled like cigarette smoke and was really dirty. It was also missing one of the two strap management caps. The second one didn't have those problems but the ratchets were installed incorrectly so I had to redo them. The included instructions aren't very detailed so having the ratchets installed incorrectly added to the confusion of mounting this rack for the first time. The Saris rack is fairly sturdy but not as sturdy as my hitch-mount rack. But I guess that's to be expected of just about any trunk-mount rack. Still, I was disappointed to discover my bicycle, a Priority Continuum Onyx, didn't mount completely flush against the rack. The bicycle has a relatively standard frame but the seat tube has about an inch of space between it and where the hold down is attached to the rack. The hold down keeps it somewhat sturdy but there is that inch of space for movement. It seems like Saris could easily redesign the seat tube hold downs to better secure a wider range of bike frame geometries. The bike rack fit a 2018 Honda Fit well and it appears to be able to fit quite a wide variety of vehicle shapes. Overall, despite Saris' quality control problems and my bike not fitting snugly, I still recommend this bike rack due to its ability to fit a wide range of car shapes. ... show more
