This vacuum can pick up a rug. Good news is you can adjust the suction rate. The fact that this company started repairing vacuums clearly shows in how the unit is designed and built. The areas that usually break seem to be engineered and made with quality materials. I was missing the second brush and they quickly sent one to us.     • Good vacuum, but I didn't love it.
I have a bagless German brand vacuum that costs a bit more than the Prolux. Between our multiple pets we need to vacuum more and schlepping our rather heavy and awkward vacuum up and down the stairs was getting to be a pain (and the stick vacuum just didn't do a great job), so we decided to get a vacuum for each floor. We had read good reviews about the Prolux, so we were eager to try the bagged pet version and compare it to the bagless pet version of their German competitor. The vacuum came well packaged with some nice features that wasn't present on my German model- we got an extra brushroll which is a nice touch. The powerhead has LED lights, which is nice because I can see the floor/carpet clearly. This is a marked improvement over the German version, since that one does not have lights. The box came with 1 bag installed, and a second bag in the box. The bags cost about $3.50/bag. I suspect I will likely be going through quite a few bags since my pets track in quite a bit, in addition to shedding. Now, to the nitty gritty. Which do I prefer? I wish I could say the Prolux, but I can't. Why? 1. The hose kinked on my the first day. It appears to be straight-up plastic and isn't rigid enough to prevent kinking. I've never had that happen with my other model. 2. The bag (which was preinstalled) slipped out of the slots inside the body. I noticed that my suction had gone down one day and when I opened up the body, I saw that there was dust everywhere inside the body because the bag had slipped off the track. 3. The power head doesn't glide as easily across carpet like the competitor, and is also a good deal smaller than the power head from my German vacuum. What do I like about it? 1. The suction is good 2. The floor tool does an excellent job 3. Long cord. At the end of the day, if I didn't have my more expensive German brand canister vac to compare this to, I would probably have been happy with it. It certainly does a good job, and is a darn sight better than my stick vacuum. However, when compared side-to-side with my other vac, the features just aren't as good. Is it a fair comparison, considering the other is a few hundred dollars more? Perhaps not, but I can't get past the kinking hose and the fact that the bag didn't stay put inside the body and spewed dirt all throughout the interior of the vacuum. ... show more

    • Worthy, modern vacuum with great suction power
I admit that I am not a fan of canister vacuums with bags. I have been using for many years either bagless vacuums (convenient) or water-filtering vacuums (bulky and much less convenient). As my old vacuum is on its last leg, I used the opportunity to order this product, Prolux QX60. I waited for 2 days to get familiar with the vacuum before writing this review. I am still not a fan of bag vacuums, but QX60 is a really impressive product. Here are the reasons for choosing it among other vacuums: - Suction power is superb. This is one of the most powerful vacuums I have experienced, despite its relatively compact size. - Very thorough filtering. The bag and the additional HEPA filter have impressive dust capturing specs, despite high air flow. The vacuum should be suitable for allergy sufferers. - Easy access to the bag, no mess. The cover mechanism seems well-made and very reliable. - The vacuum moves easily and the rotating hose connector relieves strain and prevents tangling. - Power brush disassembles easily for cleaning. It is also a hair magnet -- it lifts and captures hair easily. - One thing I liked very much is the low noise level. Granted, it is a vac, so you cannot talk on the phone and vacuum at the same time, yet it is much quieter than my old vacuum cleaner, despite having at least twice its suction power. - Another great addition is the small utility brush -- it is great for upholstery. - Prolux is a well-known company with decades on the market. They have a well-established system for providing support, consumables, and parts. Downsides: - The vacuum is rather heavy. Not super heavy like a water filtering vac with water, but it feels heavy for the size. This is actually be a good sign -- it likely means that the motor is large and uses quality copper wiring, not light aluminum wiring. - The powerbrush is also quite heavy and it is only useful on a carpet. If you do not have much carpeting (hardwood floors, etc.), you'll find yourself using mostly the dumb thin brush and the large power brush will just be taking space in storage. ... show more
