I like that it comes with keys so if the battery dies, you are still able to open it. There is a small shelf that you can put in if you would like to have extra space to hold your items. We did not need a large safe, just something capable of securing some of our more important documents and other small valuables. There is plenty of room inside for these smaller items. Access is gained by either punching in a 6 digit passcode on the digital keypad which the user chooses, or by overriding the keypad with a key (two are included). This also permits access should something go awry with the battery. The keyhole is accessed behind a plastic panel that needs to be removed. In the event that the keys are inaccessible or lost, there is a power port to provide power to the digital keypad as an alternate backup. Mounting hardware is included to securely fasten the safe to prevent it from being picked up and absconded with, although mounting isn't particularly fun. Received the safe… the lock and keypad area are cheaply made… I tried to lock and unlock my safe following the instructions provided and nothing… I can hear the lock mechanism just sitting inside turn back and forth like it’s not catching whatever gear it’s supposed to… I feel like I wasted my money… unreliable… ... show more

This safe works as expected. Programing a code is easy to do -- and the safe also comes with two override keys. It's a small safe, so a thief could easily steal the whole thing and break it open. So we are mounting this to a wall to make it a little harder for a thief to grab. I would have preferred if the whole safe were fireproof rather than just the small document bag, but we do have another fireproof box that we keep important documents in.
