Fairly simple with just two ways to open it. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but that's what I wanted. As other reviews have pointed out, this is more of a locking metal cabinet than a true safe. But it's still pretty solid. For keeping kids or wandering guests out, it's perfectly fine. As far as possible burglary, I think it gives you a reasonable level of deterrence against your average baddie, especially when combined with other security measures. If you're expecting Ocean's 11 to break into your home, then get something else. At about 80 pounds with nothing inside, most people should be able to set it up themselves. Bolts/clamping screws are included, but I found it easier to mount it with my own hardware. Overall, I'm happy with it. I like how it fits in the closet. For me, the size is right, and it's pretty well organized inside, with potential to customize it further. My experience with delivery was fine, and the packaging was quite good with 1.5 inches of thick foam on all sides of the item. ... show more

    • Great safe for the price! Heavy duty.
There are a lot of low quality gun safes on Amazon to scroll through in the $100-150 range. I wanted to make sure I could access my guns quickly when I need them, and that the safe would be durable for the long run or the average thief. I also needed it to for my long shotguns. This safe does all of that. You can feel the thickness and Weight of the door makes it very strong. The keypad is easy and fast for access. Having the backup key and backup battery pack are great features too. Lastly, it comes with predrilled holes on the back and floor panels for you to mount securely in the ground and wall.     • Great long gun safe with a key
I no longer trust digital locks on safes - I have owned many and all of them failed after a very short time. So, now I never buy a safe without a mechanical key lock, because that is all I trust. This one has a nice key lock and I never bothered with the digital lock or keypad. It should have included a safe light, but it's easy to leave a portable LED flashlight inside, as most of them have a magnetic base. The inside lock box was a joke - I wish I could remove it. But, it's long enough to hold 10 rifles, even one with a big scope and the 52" shotgun. It's not fireproof, but I'm not really worried about that. I bought it because it was reaonsabley secure, keeps kids out, I could haul it upstairs without assistance or a dolly. It's about 75 lbs, narrow, but deep enough.     • Very worthwhile purchase
Safe arrived within a week of ordering. It came well wrapped and undamaged. Instructions are very clear and simple. I feel this is an excellent product for the cost. I had to modify the shelf brackets to make it a little higher than the highest setting possible to accommodate two of my shotguns that have twenty-six inch barrels. Just keep in mind if you have long guns you may have to remove or modify the shelf to accommodate your guns. The top lock box works great for storing ammo, documents, etc. There are no lights in it so I put in a couple of magnetic rechargeable lights that work great to illuminate the entire safe. I registered it online which increased my warranty from one year to three. Within a day customer service reached out to me and offered me a free door panel organizer and provided contact information should I have any questions or problems. Customer service is excellent. I strongly recommend using wood screws to attach the back of the safe into a wall stud. I did this and the safe is solid as a rock. The safe will tip forward and possibly fall if you do not secure it to a wall. This safe will not keep a dedicated thief with the right tools from breaking into it but it will protect children in the house from getting into it. If you are looking for a place to store up to five rifles safely and you do not want to invest a large amount of money this product should work fine for you.     • Smart Choice to Store and Secure Your Rifles
After a lot of research to find a good value gun cabinet, I settled on the Moutec Large Rifle (w/ touchpad) Gun Cabinet. I found numerous positive and informative reviews on Amazon as well as reputable sites. I have had the cabinet for about a month and recently mounted it to a wall in my home. I am very pleased with my choice. I had 2 key elements in my search: price and interior dimensions. Many cabinets I researched had one or the other but not both. Most fell short on the interior dimensions. When wanting to store rifles with optics or other accessories, interior space is a must. The interior dimensions listed in the product details are accurate and one of the main reasons I selected this cabinet. I would estimate it would hold 5 – 6 long rifles as described. Quality of materials is another key element, but I am not knowledgeable enough to understand the gauge of the metal (yes, I know you can research to understand but I wasn’t getting it). The reviews here and elsewhere were consistent on two things: metal for the sides and back, as well as the cabinet door thickness. Here, the reviews were again accurate. The sides and back don’t feel much thicker/stronger than a school locker, but to get better you’re going to pay more. As such I did not feel misled. The cabinet door, however, is thick, solid, and hefty, with 3 security bars/deadbolts down the side and 1 each on top and bottom. The door isn’t being opened unless someone has time, patience, and tools. Same can be said for the sides and back. You’re going to have to expend effort to punch a hole into the cabinet to get what’s inside. The separate lockbox is also solid. For me, it doesn’t add much value. I would have preferred open and adjustable shelves. There is 1 cabinet on Amazon that has these and was my close second choice, but the cabinet wasn’t reviewed as positively or at all on other sites. The foam adjustable support frame keeps rifle barrels snugly in place. Once you put your rifle away, it’s not going to shift in the cabinet, or rotate in place. The keypad works great. I’ve had bad experiences with biometric locks so I did not consider the Moutec model that had one. The keypad isn’t touchy or sensitive. You actually need to press the keys to enter your code, which I like. Once the code is entered, the cabinet unlocks quickly. If you’re worried about getting into the cabinet in a hurry, don’t be. The batteries that shipped with the cabinet must have been old because when I installed them, all I got was a long loud whiney noise. After trying unsuccessfully to program the code, I replaced the batteries, watched the video on the Moutec website, and set the code with ease. I built a shelf for the bottom for storage, added a magnetic spice shelf to place under the lockbox but over the barrel for storage, and will be adding magnetic LEDs later this week. I found these ideas in reviews of the cabinet on Amazon and appreciate everyone who shared them. The cabinet arrived via FedEx when promised. There was no damage from shipping, as the Moutec team did a great job packing it securely and with good materials protecting the cabinet. After I registered the cabinet on the website, I was emailed by Alan from Moutec. He queried about my experience with the cabinet, thanked me for my purchase and registration, and offered to send me the door panel organizer that Moutec sells. I love it and so appreciate receiving it. I am very pleased with the cabinet. I would buy another once my collection grows, unless I upgrade to something larger and fire rated (which would cost more). While I understand some of the negative reviews I’ve seen on Amazon about this cabinet, I do not agree with them. My experience with it, as well as customer service, thus far has been nothing but positive. Other reviews I found in my research were accurate and lead to my decision to purchase this cabinet.
