    • Great starter set
I dont usually like knife sets as I believe you can get better knives if you buy them individually, that being said some folks dont want to take the time and do that or others might just be starting out and need a set of knives all at once whatever the reason is this should be a set to consider. The first thing you will notice is the color and styling of these. The dark blue like navy color handles with the gold ends and rivets really compliment each other and is different then most of the other knife sets out there. I will let you know that the handles are some kind of plastic and the feel of them is different. They claim that these are forged, which I assume is out of a block of stainless steel, and they say the handle is as well but I am pretty sure these are not a full tang knife. If they were I would give them a higher rating for sure, specially at this price point for full tang would be incredible. The blades themselves are sharp, really sharp and these come packaged well. Each knife is wrapped in a cardboard sleeve with a tip protector and the covered with plastic bag. The balance of the knives is handle heavy and when holding them in your hands because of the weight you feel like you have a capable knife. The knife block is your typical wooden block with a gold emblem on the front displaying their logo. It does again look really nice with the blue and gold from the knives. The cutouts for the knives are large and you can easily insert them into the block without issue but not so much where they are sloppy. I prepared a dinner with these the first time I used them. I cut up a chicken and sliced through onions and peppers and garlic with ease. Even with the plastic handles they never felt like they were going to slip out of my hand and the contour of the handles helped with that I believe. Like they say a dull knife is a dangerous knife not a sharp one. These are definitely not dull, how well they retain their edge is still to be determined but I have used them a few times so far and they have not lost any of their edge. Clean up is easy and these are hand wash only like any decent knife is and they do come with a limited lifetime warranty. Not much in the box going over any of that as there is nothing in the box other then the knives themselves and the wooden block. I have not had any issues with them but wouldn't know how to go about contacting them if I did since there is no paper work in the box or what exactly that limited warranty covers. All in all this I feel is a step better than most starter knife sets as the style and weight and sharpness of them is nice. I feel that they could last a decent amount of time with the right care. However they should include some sort of paperwork/instructions in the box going over the warranty and or a way to reach out for support. ... show more

I'm beyond impressed with this knife set! Right out of the box, the navy and gold design gives it a sleek, high-end look that stands out in my kitchen. The acacia wood block is a beautiful touch, adding a warm and natural feel to my countertop. Performance-wise, these knives are razor-sharp and well-balanced. The high-carbon stainless steel blades make precision cutting effortless, whether I’m slicing meat, chopping veggies, or dicing herbs. The triple rivet handles provide a comfortable grip and feel very sturdy in hand. The set includes all the essentials, and I love that it comes with kitchen shears and a sharpening steel—a nice bonus! Fantastic set of knives and accessories for the kitchen. Since they are new, they are very sharp and will hopefully stay that way. The kitchen shears is a wonderful addition as I use them all the time. The butcher block holder gives the set an attractive look on the counter. The blue handles look great and are well constructed. Sabatier is/was a reputable brand of knives made in Thiers France (French capital of cutlery). I remember offering a knife set of Sabatier to a good friend of mine and it cost me pretty but was of a great quality. I wish I could say the same about this set which is obviously not made in France anymore. The mere fact that Made in France is not shown says it all... Do not get me wrong, China has some very good knife making but I feel this one is just not that great. Upon investigation (a quick google search) the manufacturer, Lifetime brand inc. also produces Farberware knives, Mikasa, KitchenAid and a dozen more brands... On the product itself, the knives look good. The lacquered color is great but the knives are not amazingly sharp nor feel of a very high quality once in my hand. I am against serrated steak knives and especially when it is very shallow but that is a personal preference. At $90 for the whole set, the price is reasonable when considering the brand but I still am not enthusiastic about the whole set. On a side note, I have no idea how one makes high carbon stainless steel... Usually, high carbon means that the knife will rust if left in contact of water for too long. There is no mention if these are dishwater safe. I would not recommend it considering the high carbon and usually for any expensive knives. In conclusion: It is OK, 3 stars. ... show more

So far the knives are sharp. I hand wash them and they are resisting rust. I was disappointed that the set didn't come with a sharpener as knives should be sharpened each use. The block is heavy and stays put on the counter. I like the look and color of the set but would say they are priced a bit too high ... show more

Nice variety of knives, block is attractive. Like most people, I quickly find my favorite knife and stick with it. I have a favorite meat knife and a favorite paring knife out of this set already. I pretty much don't reach for my other knives anymore. I have not put mine in the dishwasher, with handwashing they still look and cut like new after a month of multiple times a day usage.
