    • Great starter set
I dont usually like knife sets as I believe you can get better knives if you buy them individually, that being said some folks dont want to take the time and do that or others might just be starting out and need a set of knives all at once whatever the reason is this should be a set to consider. The first thing you will notice is the color and styling of these. The dark blue like navy color handles with the gold ends and rivets really compliment each other and is different then most of the other knife sets out there. I will let you know that the handles are some kind of plastic and the feel of them is different. They claim that these are forged, which I assume is out of a block of stainless steel, and they say the handle is as well but I am pretty sure these are not a full tang knife. If they were I would give them a higher rating for sure, specially at this price point for full tang would be incredible. The blades themselves are sharp, really sharp and these come packaged well. Each knife is wrapped in a cardboard sleeve with a tip protector and the covered with plastic bag. The balance of the knives is handle heavy and when holding them in your hands because of the weight you feel like you have a capable knife. The knife block is your typical wooden block with a gold emblem on the front displaying their logo. It does again look really nice with the blue and gold from the knives. The cutouts for the knives are large and you can easily insert them into the block without issue but not so much where they are sloppy. I prepared a dinner with these the first time I used them. I cut up a chicken and sliced through onions and peppers and garlic with ease. Even with the plastic handles they never felt like they were going to slip out of my hand and the contour of the handles helped with that I believe. Like they say a dull knife is a dangerous knife not a sharp one. These are definitely not dull, how well they retain their edge is still to be determined but I have used them a few times so far and they have not lost any of their edge. Clean up is easy and these are hand wash only like any decent knife is and they do come with a limited lifetime warranty. Not much in the box going over any of that as there is nothing in the box other then the knives themselves and the wooden block. I have not had any issues with them but wouldn't know how to go about contacting them if I did since there is no paper work in the box or what exactly that limited warranty covers. All in all this I feel is a step better than most starter knife sets as the style and weight and sharpness of them is nice. I feel that they could last a decent amount of time with the right care. However they should include some sort of paperwork/instructions in the box going over the warranty and or a way to reach out for support. ... show more

    • Attractive, sharp knives
The Sabatier 14-Piece Forged Knife Set is beautiful. The blue and gold look snazzy, and the knives' handles have a good, heavy feel. They're not the heaviest knives I've used, of course, but neither are they the lightest. I've had more expensive knives that felt like toys, in other words. The block is also more compact than others I've seen/used. My previous collection (the Sabatier set is replacing that) had the same number of types of knives but a much bigger block. I like that they are closer together, which opens up more places where I can put the block. The block itself is heavy--even when empty--and doesn't get knocked around as easily when inserting or removing the knives. The knives are pretty sharp and cut meats, vegetables, and other items like bread without any issues. I'm pleased to own these now and will be watching for more quality items from Sabatier in the future. Five stars. ... show more

I got these as a pre-release product. While there is nothing wrong with these knives, they are a budget set without a built in sharpener in the knife block, and do not cut as well as a similar set I purchased from the same manufacturer. If you get them at a significant I can recommend them, but this company has some better sets that have single piece construction that are likely to be more durable. ... show more

    • Beautiful knife set for a decent price
This set of knives is beautiful. You get an entire matching set with dinner knives and a set of scissors included. They are well made and cut precisely. When looking at comparable sets, it falls right in the lower end of the price range, so I believe they are worth the price. It is nice to have everything in the same place, rather than kept in a drawer. I have an older set of knives that were various pastel colors. They did not include the extra items and were pretty expensive at the time they were purchased. These are the perfect replacement for them, and I will use them just as much as I did the other set. We did not have a reliable knife set. When I moved in with my husband we just had some piece milled knives. It was time to buy a good knife set. I am highly pleased with these knives, they are super sharp (husband sharpens each knife after use). I will update after we have them longer.
