Although I prefer keyboards with an extended numerical keyboard, I saw this and fell in love. I love another brand as well, but those keyboards are north of about $200. No bueno. When this arrived, I was not disappointed with the look. OF COURSE there's not real wood, but it has the look of wood. Because I'm a touch typist, I appreciate the raised knobs on the f and j keys, which keep me focused. The carriage knob for the sound is perfect, and that surprised me. No more searching the keyboard for the right volume key. So why don't I LOVE it the way I wanted? It's the backlight. Or, more accurately, the way the backlight refuses to cooperate. Sometimes I can get it to turn on, but more often than not, it'll just randomly turn off and not do anything. Or, it'll turn on. I know my house isn't haunted, so this is a little weird. Sometimes when it comes on, it's the racing lights which can be very distracting in a dark room. Ultimately, when I tried to adjust the lights with the "carriage return" during one of the keyboard's tantrums, it fell off in my hand. Ugh. I will return it and hope I can get an exchange. I obviously don't hate it, but sometimes, I just like for something to work. FWIW, I have a PC-oriented gaming keyboard with lots of lights that I use on my Mac Mini, and it works perfectly, whether I want crazy lights or just something soft in the background while I'm concentrating on the task. I wanted this keyboard because it's Mac-centric and I don't have to guess at the various control keys. I'll update with any hiccups or resolution. UPDATE! I updated to five stars because the replacement keyboard does everything promised. As I noted earlier, I love the clicky-click keys and for some reason, they allow me to type faster. I'm typing this using the keyboard onto my MacBook Air laptop. (I a laptop ever made a keyboard like this, I'd snatch one up immediately!) With this keyboard having the Mac keys clearly marked, it is so much easier to type without having to guess through the corresponding Windows keys. Mac users, take notice! Of course, the most important part in this situation is that the lights work! While I'm not sure of the rationale behind providing some of the odd patterns, the main thing is that I can now easily type in a room with dimmed lighting. The return/replace process was dead easy, and now I have the fully functional keyboard. Love it! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The look, the sound, the feel... It was love at first click. This vintage design is so appealing to the eye, the hardware connects quickly to my devices, and is satisfying to work on. My typing is not hindered by the key shapes, size, or space. If you want a typewriter-style keyboard.. This suits all the needs. If there was to be a con.. I am not sure what happened, perhaps it was during manufacturing but the keyboard arrived with slight scratches in the tablet rest location. I hope it wasn't a return? Otherwise, it is a cute retro typewriter keyboard and I love the sound it makes when I type. I will update if I receive a response from the seller. Update from 3 stars to 4 stars: The seller responded and asked if I wanted a replacement. I stated that I would prefer a partial discount as the keyboard was still usable. Btw, I have only used the keyboard a few times but so my rating is only based on my limited use. If anything changes I will update. ... show more

This is my third mechanical keyboard so I'm an amateur, I think (I've never switched out keycaps or anything). This one is the closest to an 80s keyboard so far. The solid build to the keyboard contributes to the "authentic" sound and feel. My other ones both had blue switches, not Gateron, and were much lighter weight. I had no idea what I was missing! The solid, heavy case makes a huge difference. I think the blue switches are a bit clickier than what I used way back then, but I love clicky so that's a good thing for me. I've included a picture of the keyboard next to my 60% one so you can see the size comparison. Other pluses: *Colors. I love the green & white combination. * Feet to raise the back edge of the keyboard. * 75% keyboard is compact so my mouse isn't way out to the right, but still has arrow keys, etc. I had no idea how much I missed the having a DEL key ( * Control knob. I didn't think I would need it at all but it's very convenient to have volume control on the keyboard. * Keycaps have the functions their Function printed in small type. You'd think I would've learned all the function keys by heart by now, but I haven't. :P There's one minus: FN+B shows battery life. However, as far as I can tell, it's an on/off situation - either your battery is good and nothing lights up, or the battery is low and an indicator light will come on. I haven't let the battery get low yet to see exactly what would light up. Overall, I highly recommend this keyboard! I AM someone who will go back and update reviews if things change, so if I start having problems, such as bad battery life, I'll update. ... show more

    • Small Hands? Could be good. Big hands? Pass on it.

I'm 6 feet tall with big hands. The keys felt very small when I was typing. I kept messing up when writing because one of my fingers would bump into another key by mistake. It made me wonder if buying a mechanical keyboard would have been the better, more natural choice since it is closer to a normal keyboard. For the price, I don't think this was worth the money when compared to a mechanical keyboard that would give me that same CLICK-CLACK sound, with bigger keys and usually at a lower price. The CLICK-CLACK of the keyboard was amazing though. Like ASMR when you type. If the keys were bigger then it would be perfect for people like me that enjoy writing on a keyboard and the sound of the keys. If you love this retro look, have smaller hands, and really enjoy the CLICK-CLACK sound of the key, I think you would get a good kick out of using this keyboard and it might be worth the investment. If you have bigger hands, I would advise looking up some mechanical keyboard for similar or slightly lower price point that would give you that same sound you want when typing with a lot more comfortability. ... show more
