I recently purchased this gate with the intention of keeping my 70lb dogs out of the hallway that leads towards the guest bedrooms. I have purchased many gates in the past with similar intentions and they have been replaced constantly due to the way they click together. The latches seem to always become damaged from people swinging it and pushing it back with force. One of the things I really liked about this gate is that it opens with a latch and goes in one direction, making it much harder to break since it doesn’t allow you to just force it open. This is an easier to use gate in my opinion. It’s simple to install and since we use it for the door outside my daughter’s bedroom, we didn’t use the nails and the rubber part still holds up the gate. If you use it around stairs, I would definitely recommend putting the nails in for safety but without it, I feel it was pretty stable. The gate feels light but still stable. Update: added two stars for good customer service. I contacted support and they immediately shipped me a 6" extension, which makes me wonder why they don't just include it in the package; I know the make 2 and 4 inch extensions as well, and that would make the gate a lot more versatile. Unfortunately, even though it now fits my hall, it still doesn't fit my needs, because it took my 2.5 year-old about 24 hours to figure out how to open it. Original review: Not sure why this is advertised as fitting openings "between 29 and 49 inches." The two extensions have fixed widths, so you can add either 4 or 12 inches to the base; if your space is between 37-41inches, like mine, you can't actually use this gate as Intended. Now I have to figure out how to return this bulky, useless item. ... show more

This gate has worked perfectly to keep our little guy from wandering where he shouldn’t. I did use the hardware to secure the gate onto the door frame, and it has held up wonderfully to our baby’s strong arms. Very sturdy. Easy for adults to access. I definitely recommend this one.

This Regalo Easy Step 49-Inch Extra Wide Gate is fairly easy to install and looks great! We have a "whasckly rabbit morkie" who thinks it's his right to fly out the door then play catch me. We've had some close calls with cars and streets. This dog is head strong and STUBBORN so recall training has been not too successful. Solution : the Regalo security gate for this little 13 lb whasckle. Set up was simple. The hardest part was tightening the ends to make the latch ends meet up and close. We did not use the end caps that you drill into your wall or post because we don't want to drill into trex and leave permanently holes. You HAVE to tighten them until your latch ends meet and therefore close. You can not lean on the gate as in babies or animals. It works exactly like tension rods. Light to medium weight dogs could briefly lean on it. It stays in place by being really tight against the opposite surface it's "mounted" to. Very nice looking and solidly built. We're very pleased with this Regalo gate. Recommend for light weight to medium weight security. ... show more
