Description

"You flip the switch and drop the fully charged Blackout XBE to the ground. Clutching the pistol grip in your left hand, you squeeze the foam steering wheel with the finger tips of your right hand. Your eyes squint as you focus on the path ahead. Squeezing the trigger, you hold your breath as dirt replaces the air around you. All of life’s worries fade away as you focus on the path directly before you. Your peripheral vision blurs as the only thing that seems to matter, in that moment, is the precision of your steering and the finesse of the trigger. You accurately steer the Blackout XBE 4WD buggy exactly where you want it to go. Its excellent performance and innovative chassis design make the Blackout XBE a unique vehicle. Its chassis utilizes many swappable components such as; suspension arms, steering hubs, hub carriers, turn buckles, gear boxes, differentials, and body posts. Each of the four suspension arms on the Blackout XBE can be used at any corner of the chassis. That's right, one lower suspension arm will work on the front-left, front-right, rear-left, or rear-right of the vehicle. The same is true for the upper suspension arms and steering hubs. The hub carriers are interchangeable front to rear, as are the bumpers, diffs, gear boxes, body mounts, and turn buckles. Equipped with a powerful 550 brushed electric motor, waterproof 40A brushed ESC, 7.2V 3000mAh NiMH battery pack, NiMH charger, and 2.4GHz radio system, the Blackout XBE is pre-assembled and ready to run. This incredible vehicle provides loads of excitement, at an affordable price, while continuing to save you time and money in spare parts. Oil filled coil over shocks and four wheel independent suspension allow the Blackout XBE to keep its composure over rough terrain, as you’re blasting around the yard, vacant lot, or race track. As the battery nears the end of its charge, you pull the Blackout XBE to your feet. Your finger tips slowly loosen their grip, your chest relaxes, and you hear the sound of air releasing from your lungs. It’s as if all of reality begins to surround you once more. In that moment, you know, that you have just experienced the Blackout. Get your Redcat Racing Blackout XBE today! "

  • Great RC Truck for the money
The media could not be loaded. Before i bought this Redcat for my son, i bought a $50 "Hobby Grade" Toy, that broke within the first half hour. This on the other hand is worth every penny. It's 4 wheel drive, comes with Remote, charger and everything else required, and is easy to race right out of the box. If you are just getting into the hobby, this is a great and fun beginner truck. It's got some cheaper components, but so far it has taken all the abuse we have thrown at it (jumps, mud, gravel, etc) in stride. Only real complaint is that the battery it comes with will be done in 15 minutes. ... show more

  • Great Buggy For The Money, But Not For Beginners
Have several years RC experience both bashing and racing. I am very happy with it, but would not recommend this to be anyone's first hobby grade RC. It needs some help to be really good and the electronics have a reputation for not being the best. If you are comfortable doing some manual setup and an occasional repair this is a great basher for the money. Was wanting a cheap 4wd basher and the Blackout XBE was cheaper than 2wds from competitors so decided to take a chance on a Red Cat. Build was not terrible, but everything was out of alignment. Had to adjust caster, camber and steering to get it to drive in a straight line. Gears were very loud, took all three gear boxes apart, filled front and rear with quality grease and added some to the center gear. Is much quieter now, but still a loud drive train. Receiver died on the 4th run, but Red Cat sent me a new one for free. Even if I end up replacing all the electronics with better gear I won't be upset with overall spend. Has been very rugged physically. Jumping snow hills and a trip to the skate park and no issues. Not super fast with the brushed motor but out-runs my nephews Stampede, handles better, has 4wd and was cheaper. Tires are closer to 1/8 scale buggy size and overall is noticeably larger and heavier that the other 4wd buggies I have owned. As of now I would definitely buy another Red Cat, but I am glad I bought my 10 year old nephew a Traxxas for his first truck. ... show more

  • Way more than I expected, and crazy fast, plus you un-box & go play!
Purchased this model for myself, (43) and the blackout (looks like dark silver suburban) for my son (16) his has a little more wheelbase which I like as I find his easier to drive straight. They are so fast! We've had them since Christmas he runs his every day and it's a bit looser than mine which sees mild weekend use. No problems so far which considering the daily flogging his gets is a good thing. One cool thing about the buggy model, the cover has a little aluminum around the bottom which makes it much more rigid, and if you choose when changing battery you can pull frent pins lift body by front and it rotates up staying attached in the rear, and it remains there until you push down. Like opening the hood on your car. I think it looks cool on the shelf like that, it comes off like a normal one as well if you choose, cool feature. ... show more

  • Hobby grade?
This is my first Redcat, and if this is any indication of the quality of car they produce, it will be my last. Out of the box, this thing is garbage. The gear mesh sounds like a playing card in bicycle spokes. You have to pretty much completely dismantle it to do any kind of work on it. The design is senseless, screws you can't get to without tearing it completely apart, and so on. This truly is a very toyish car. Buy a DeeRC, they are cheaper and better. Honestly, I will work on this thing and try to make it viable, but will probably just throw it in the trash and buy something much better. Definitely not worth the price, this thing shouldn't cost more than $75. Highly disappointing. ... show more

  • Great car!
Great RC car for the money, some plastic parts on the front so avoid massive collisions. If concerned with breaking buy the aluminum upgrade kit. Overall we are having a ton of fun with this car!

  • Fun while it lasted
My son had so much fun with this car but after about 4 times running it the motor when out. It had a burning smell from the motor and was super hot. Still had steering and everything. It was very fun while it lasted.

  • I think it was a little pricey....
Too much money.....But it is a nice looking Buggy.....

  • Great car
This car has some great speed. It will keep up with brushless Lipo's on a track. I've only had it 2 days, but it has one huge fault. It's very front heavy, so it's terrible on jumps. If it's in the air more than 3 feet, it's gonna land upside down.
