  • Great for my 10 year old
We bought this for our small ten year old. . . she's about 65 pounds and one of the smaller ones in her class (that means I don't know her height. :) ). Anyways, she loves it and I think I do, too. It did arrive as expected but did arrive with some scuff marks on the plastic. I'm not sure this will buff out or not; we didn't try. The "light" in the front is decorative only and doesn't work, as I expected. We didn't care about the scuff marks and I doubt my daughter even noticed them at all. There's a hand brake but, to get the bike to work, you ACTIVELY have to twist the left handlebar. . . if you let it go, the bike's motor will stop. .. so, in fact, it's very easy to stop and go. Also there's a center kick stand that was easy to teach my daughter how to use. There's storage area under the seat which is a plus. It arrived charged and with the wheels inflated so, after 20 minutes of assembly (which really means putting the front wheel and handlebars on), she was off and riding for almost an hour. It was still going strong but we plugged it in at that point to charge. Here's why I really recommend it, though. We had a razor "motorbike" style scooter for my son when he was about the same age. Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike He's outgrown it and it's sitting in our garage still. Well, our daughter really wanted to ride it but I would have had to replace YET ANOTHER battery for it to get it going again. That scooter had no overcharge protection and had a more complicated charging process. We had to replace the battery a few times during the year or two when my son was riding it. . . and batteries cost about fifty dollars, but I think I may have found a site where I only paid thirty-five. Still, inevitably we'd let the bike charge and forget about it and the battery would QUICKLY die. . . I don't mean after a few charges more, I mean the MOMENT we overcharged it, it just wouldn't work anymore. EVER. Anyways, although I'll update if this turns out differently, this newer model has overcharge protection AND a charger with a light that turns from red to green when fully charged. So, this purchase was worth it to me for this reason. Supposedly, the battery lasts for about 250 charges, too. It seems to go about 15 mph as stated and our neighborhood is really very hilly. . . she zipped right up the big hill immediately with no lag. She's only 65 pounds and I'm not sure if it would take me up the hill, but I was able to ride it fairly comfortably around the big circle we live on and it was comfortable enough (though really small). It states it's for riders ages 12 and up-- I think most 12 year olds would be too big for this since most of them are nearly adult size. This comfortably fits a pre-teen child. ... show more

  • A great little scooter!
I purchased one for my 10-year old son, who thought it looked cool. He's right about the way this scooter looks. It is just a mini version of a Vespa, except the front fender does not turn with the wheel. The packaging for this is bomb-proof and with a box within a box, it was easy to get out of the packaging and set up. All in all, it took less than ten minutes to get it ready. Be sure to give yourself the full 12 hours to charge the battery before riding to ensure that you get the battery off to the right start. There are some complaints about battery life, and the recommendation is always to start with a fully charged battery. The fit and finish of the scooter are impeccable. It runs up to the advertised speeds (15 mph) with my 105 lb. boy on it bedecked with winter clothes. It does not climb very well, and grades of maybe 4% will challenge it. Steep driveways and roadways will require getting off and pushing it. Be sure to check with local regulations about driving one of these on public roadways; some states are much more strict in words and actions than others. The scooter is light and can be pick-up by an adult with the handlebars and the handle on the back of the seat. Well-balanced and well-designed. Though we have stored ours for the winter, we all look forward to seeing it zip around the neighborhood when things thaw. I'll report back on how the bike held up in cold storage. ... show more

  • Great scooter and fun to ride
Bought this for my 10 year old daughter and she loves it! It was pretty easy to assemble (I consider myself handy) and it only took me about 15 minutes to put on the wheel and set the handlebars in place after reading the instructions. Let it charge overnight, tested it (at about 140lbs, I was able to ride it just fine), then let it charge a few hours two days before Christmas. On Christmas morning, she was off and rolling (helmet on!) and has been super happy with it. Since the weather is below freezing here most nights, I’ve decided to keep it in the house instead of the garage to keep the battery in good shape. She’s gone out for a few short rides and I’ve re-charged it once so far. I think as long as the battery is well cared for, it should last a long time. The scooter is cute and sturdy and great for kids about 10-13 (maybe younger if you have an adventurous kid that’s big enough to handle it). An instant hit in my house and her “best Christmas present” this year! ... show more

  • Great tween fun for a decent price!
We've had the Razor Pocket Mod over a year now and 11 is 12, about 90 lbs; battery and ride have held up well- and it's a BIG hit in the neighborhood, multiple rides throughout the area. Keep it off the street unless it's quiet, it can't compete with a car or a post office vehicle but it has been a lot of fun and my daughter has no intention of letting it go any where in the future. Does hills, bumps, solid performance, stable, easy to navigate and relatively safe. Looks a lot quicker than it actually gets speed wise, a clever 7-8 could handle it with supervision. Biggest detriment will be telling the neighborhood kids "no". We keep it inside, charge it when not riding, gets about 30 minutes of continuous rides before it slows down. The battery can be replaced at a reasonable price but we haven't reached that point yet. Invest in the helmet, it's the law in many subdivisions and a good habit to get into. ... show more

  • No no no
I bought this for a Christmas present for my granddaughter it lasted less than 4 months trying to troubleshoot and get this issue fixed has been a joke, I am angry and upset that my issue has not been resolved or my money been refunded or the new battery that they promised been received… I paid close to 400.00 for this scooter for it to just take up room in my house since It can’t be ridden unless you wanna move along at a snails pace…. I didn’t mind paying close to 400.00 but I expected it to last a couple of years not just a few months… I will never purchase something like this again and I will let everyone I know not to waste their money on what turned out to be very expensive trash ... show more
