I’ve had a dozen electric pet feeders over the past decade. Each is usually an improvement over the previous. Early models didn’t seal the food inventory so it would go stale, dispensed food by schedule but could not account for how much was left in the bowl, dumped the food under the spout and it would pile up and spill over the sides of the bowl, or were so poorly made the cat could get to the food inventory and circumvent the dispensing function. This PetKit feeder solves all those issue. The food supply is sealed, the bowl turns during dispensing, there is a scale under the bowl so it knows the volume of uneaten food remaining from previous dispensing and compensates, etc. Everything is well thought out. There are a few issues, however. There is a plastic auger in the food supply that rotates to push the food out. It’s not reinforced - just a plastic X that rotates to push the food out. This auger breaks often if you have small kibble and it’s dense in the supply hopper. This seems like an easy fix for PetKit by just using an auger that is metal reinforced plastic or a tougher plastic like fiberglass or something. It’s been three years now of this model and my auger breaks about once a year. Customer service is okay, but it comes from China so really poor English diction is hard to deal with. They have always replaced my unit, but it takes lots of work to get past the language barrier and time zone difference The last issue is the app. The app has a lot of functionality, but the UI is terrible. Seems is was created by a small child. The graphics are crammed around on the page, text that scrolls through icons, fonts that are too big for the icons so the icons cover the txt, etc. Further, given the huge language barrier, almost everything has grammar issues. Don’t get me wrong. You’ll eventually figure it all out and it’s quite functional, but the diction, grammar and sentence structure is just aweful - past tense and future tenses are mixed up, plurals are incorrect. Punctuation missing and subject verb agreement is always off. If they’d spend a few dollars and let a teenager here in the States proof read their app, maybe they’d make some progress. The app UI is pretty terrible though. Trying to figure out where to touch on the iPhone screen to reset the dissent or filter life is almost impossible - not intuitive at all. If you just start touching the screen in random places you’ll eventually figure it out though. All that being said, other than the plastic auger issue, this is the best engineered pet feeder there is. High quality interior and exterior and high quality electronics inside. The food container can be removed and it seals itself as it is removed to keep the food fresh - just one more small indication of the well though out engineering. If they could get that auger issue fixed and get a high school kid to proof read their app who was fluent in English then I think I’d give it 5 stars all day. ... show more

This is the best automatic pet feeder! It's not like flawless, but I would still recommend it to anybody who is looking for something similar. Pros: - Weight controlled portion works. It measures how much food to provide using a scale under the food tray, and although not perfectly accurate it is precise enough. I actual uses food with smaller than recommended size, but it still works great. - Notifications and settings do work. It senses when pet eats from the tray again using the scale. And again it is not very accurate, but good enough. Like when my pet eats 3 grams it might say 4 grams, not something to worry about. You can also setup feeding schedule and it works perfectly. - Very easy to keep clean. Stainless steel bowl is super easy to wash. The container is stainless steel walled, that the bottom mechanism part is plastic. But that's not a big problem, because internal does not get in touch with pet so it is hard to get dirty. Mixed: - App works when it works, and sad when otherwise. When I first received the feeder, their app had an outage of about a full day. I cannot setup the feeder. And after the setup, there has been a few times that the app does not work properly. However when it works it is perfect. - The speaker. The feeder could play voice or recordings to call pets when food is dispensed, but the speaker is not quite good that voice is kind of distorted. At least my pets would not react to my voice when played through its speaker. The speaker also plays a dimmed hissing noise when not doing anything, which is actually kind of common and not very easy to hear, but would be bothersome if I have the feeder in my bedroom. But anyways voice notification when it needs maintenance or anything is quite convenient. - The revolving tray design works, but does not work well. It helps to spread food out, but it always leaves a bunch under dispenser sprout which is hard for pets to reach. I will they designed it to turn some extra rounds when dispensing to solve this issue. Cons: - WiFi connectivity is not too great. I had to move one of my wireless hotspot to closer for it to connect to internet properly. There's many other WiFi devices close to it and all working perfectly well. - The container is detachable, but quite hard to install. It is supposed to be a convenience feature that you can remove the container to refill or clean, and attach it back. But it is never easy to attach it back once it is removed. I will have to manually turn the center shaft to realign it for it to attach. Wishlist: - Extra turning of the food tray like mentioned above. - Extra food bowl for easy to clean. - An integrated camera to photograph pet when they come to eat. Overall I still give it a 5 star because it is still better than my expectation ... show more

Weight feature is awesome, daily dispenses have become an automatic procedure in my home I hardly think of it which is good I guess. Every time I check the bowl there’s some food left so. The app is pretty good. Wish it had a camera and could identify which cat has eaten and how much, other than that it’s amazing ... show more
