  • its the big one
this stove is the large (extra large) size, and it lights very easily, and its easy to dump little handfulls of sticks right down into it. The fire can get pretty hot on this stove. This titanium one is fairly light, but still a touch heavy. Pros: big stove, fairly light for the titanium one Cons: very expensive, perhaps kinda too much stove, especially for one person, or 2 people. for that I would go with the LF version, unless using a big pot for cooking for more than a few people, then you would want this one. This stove does warp a bit, on the feet, where they tend to splay out after burning the first fire in it. the bottom plate can fall down because of this, but you kinda just push them back in. doesnt happen all the time, but it can happen. ... show more

  • costs but like anything in life you get what you pay for.
I had originally bought the large Firebox stove however I returned it immediately as the Firebox and the accessories that went with it (the large one) was over 2 lbs. I also own the Solo Stove Titan with its matching pot. I like the solo stove however it is way too big to carry in a backpack Now on to this. After reviewing various Youtube videos on this product I decided to buy it. Even though it is expensive it is well worth the money. I have cooked large steaks on it with the large grill that can be purchased separately. I have also been able to cook mac and cheese on it using a 14cm zebra pot. The things I truly like about this is that you can continue to feed wood (fuel) into this from the side unlike the solo titan which requires the removal of the pot to ad more wood to it. Also this is very lightweight and is easy to carry as it folds flat. Finally since this is titanium it is lightweight and cools very quickly when done cooking. This is in my backpack and goes with me now on my camping/backpacking adventures. ... show more

  • No complaints!
The media could not be loaded. Excellent design for someone who doesn’t mind carrying around something a little larger than an esbit stove but made for many fuel sources. The way the whole unit is made into itself and deploys and packs away is ingenious. I have the Ti version and have been burning sections of handles off old axes I restore, so it’s mostly hickory and some white ash now and then. The fires burn pretty hot and get a very good bed of coals that remain hot for quite some time. The warm glow and the heat caught from this is a real morale booster on a rainy day in the woods. I have not used it to grill directly over, so won’t speak to that. The intent for me was mainly to boil water for coffee and rehydrating meals, but I have made bacon and eggs on it using my Ti plate over it and it’s perfect for that once you get the flames down and have a nice coal bed. ... show more

  • Cleverly well engineered
The media could not be loaded. For weeks I debated wether to get the steel or the titanium version of the XL. I figured titanium would never rust, can handle more heat, and is lighter. Though expensive, I believe this will stand the test of time, and I will probably be able to pass it down to my grandchildren one day. All the reviews were correct in just “shaking it” to setup or break down, it’s that easy. Can’t wait to try it out later today or this weekend, at which point I may update this review with better, in the field, pictures. Very impressed. Update 3/31/18: I finally got a chance to fire up the Bushbox, and it was all very easy. The airflow is very good, minimizing smoke. The fire I made created a nice blue and purple patina on the titanium. It’s just awesome! Update 6/23/18: My first camping with the Bushbox, and no warpage of any of the plates, even when the fire was left on for hours for boiling water for coffe, and to make breakfast. ... show more

  • Buy once never cry about it...
I was not sure how I would feel about this item. i prefer to cook on camp fire but mostly have to do gas, or alcohol due to hiking many miles. I was looking for a happy medium . I didnt find it. I found a happy high instead. This stove is amazing. I own just about every kind of stove there is for out there. The best test I had was on top of a mountain in pouring rain and sustained 15 -20 mph winds. I woke up to that mess. My coffee was still ready in 5 minutes end of story... . Its not super light weight however still very light and its performance and weight now makes it a topper on my gear list. very well built. I was also suprised how well it warmed me up instead of a campfire before hitting the rack. ... show more

  • Every bushcrafter needs this stove
Having already purchased the large titanium version of this stove, the I was surprised at the massive size difference with the XL. The light weight, structure, and superior quality is the same. This will be an outstanding stove for the cooler months because of just how much wood can be used; it will be akin to a small fire. With some creative use of a space blanket and some stakes, I think it will provide plenty of warmth. Just as my last purchase, the customer service at Bushcraft Essentials is outstanding. They are quick to reply to questions with efficient and accurate answers. ... show more

  • Great stove on windy days
I used it once for camping. It is a great product, especially in windy days. Other friends who use butane / alcohol don't even get their fire on because the wind always blow the fire away. Only my stove can survive on windy days. More wind, more oxygen for the fire, the fire gets better. All my friends come and ask me for boiling water for their food because they can't even set up their fire on windy day. All of us have no wind screen for fire on that day. The energy is free and you don't need to worry run out of enery. I just pick wood sticks and leaves. I highly recommend for all of you. ... show more
