Description

The NESCO FD-61WHCK Food & Jerky Dehydrator is designed to be the ultimate kit for beginners or experts. Accessories include a jerky gun with three tip attachments, three fruit roll sheets, three clean-a-screens, three jerky seasoning & cure samples, and a recipe & instruction book. This dehydrator comes with six (13 1/2" diameter) trays and expands up to 12 trays so you can dry large quantities at once, with no tray rotation needed. Additional Add-A- Trays sold separately. The adjustable temperature control (95°F -160°F) gives you the flexibility to achieve the best results when drying different foods that need varying temperature settings. The quiet, powerful Converga-Flow fan forces heated air down the exterior pressurized chamber, then horizontally across each individual tray. The air flow then converges in the center for quick, consistent drying that is four times faster than other dehydrators. The top mounted fan eliminates liquids dripping into the heater chamber. The NESCO FD-61WHCK Food & Jerky Dehydrator is great for dehydrating fruit rollups, banana chips, apple chips, jerky, and other healthy snacks.

This is my first dehydrator, so I had no idea what to expect. The dehydrating surface racks are warped. I thought that must just be how they are. I didn’t realize what a issue it would be until I tried dehydrating a thick liquid, or crushed tomato types of foods. Everything runs to one side. I probably should have returned it, but I’ve now had the dehydrator for 7 months. I love the temperature dial. I have dehydrated a number of items and have been happy with the results. I just can’t make my own chicken bullion, even if reduced on the stove first. I haven’t tried making jerky yet, with the included spices and accessories. ... show more

After quite a bit of research, I chose to buy this Nesco Food Dehydrator due to the price point for what advertised. My main reason for buying this was to dry all my Ghost Peppers this year instead of pickling or freezing. I had 2 plants that WAY over produced this year and wanted to smoke and then dry these chili's. This dehydrator does not disappoint. I have used it to dry out basil and other spices along with thoroughly dehydrating my Smoked Ghost Chili's. I will have to wait till after Deer season to try my hand at some Venison Jerky but I'm pretty sure it will do it's job. PRO'S: 1. Many trays and accessories to literally dehydrate any kind of food. Even fruit rollups. 2. It achieves temperature pretty quickly and I used my wireless BBQ thermometer to verify the temp's and it was only 1 degree off(there will be some margin of error due to it being an analog temp dial). Don't really need a digital readout to break on me later down the road. 3. It does it's job and pretty much at the prescribed times the instruction book says it will take. 4. It has a pretty good price point compared to other dehydrators that I read reviews on not being able to achieve high enough temps to dry jerky correctly. 5. Dishwasher safe trays and accessories. CON'S: Right now, none that I can think of. Maybe if it stops doing what the company advertises it will do, then I will come and update this review. If you're looking to dry spices, fruits, vegetables or just want to make some jerky after a successful hunt, look no further. This one will do it all at a good price and is durable. ... show more

this unit represents an upgrade from our previous Nesco dehydrator. That old unit lasted through making many pounds of jerky. So far, this unit seems to be up to our expectations. There is a "however": the "free" or "promotional" jerky shooter that accompanies the dehydrator is best described as junk. If the ground meat is any tougher or thicker than watered-down gravy the shooter will not push it through the spout. ... show more

I've been using this for a few months. It works fine, but I can't believe there is NO on/ off power switch!! The only way to turn it on & off is by unplugging it (YES, while it's RUNNING!!) or plugging it in. It's a joke! The 25+ year old dehydrator that I replaced with this was the same way. They couldn't add a POWER switch in all of these years?! Not only is it inconvenient, but it's not safe & causes unnecessary wear & tear on the cord. LOVE the drying mechanism being on the top... if you mistakenly overfill a tray with a puree, eggs, etc, it won't burn out the motor with it being in the lid. I do NOT recommend it due to the LACK OF a power on/ off switch. ... show more
