This is a very nice monitor. Works better than I expected. I am not using this as a baby monitor, but more as a theft monitor. I have had my catalytic converter stolen twice in the last 2.5 years. They cost $3500 to replace. At least I had insurance the 2nd time. My car is a 2007 Prius and its converter is apparently stolen the most of any car for any year. It is located about 120 feet from my apartment room on the opposite side of the building so I was worried it would be too far away because the transmission would have to go through several walls. I use this monitor in conjunction with a vibration alarm attached to the car. I placed the monitor next to the alarm. I set off the alarm and the monitor works great. I can hear it very loudly in my bedroom. Without the monitor you can only hear the alarm about 100 feet away, but not if your inside. I was very happy. The one thing you really need to do is plug the baby unit into a power bank to make sure it last for a while. I used a 34000mAh power bank that works great. The monitor uses up about 280mAh per hour or about 10% of the power bank every 12 hours, so it will last about 120 hours. The batteries in the monitor are 1500mAh total so I think the monitor will only last about 5 or 6 hours at best on its own when not plugged into an AC outlet, not the 10 hours it states. If you use this monitor away from home on say a camping trip, I would definitely use a power bank with the unit. It seems to work well with any power bank. I mounted the monitor and the power bank inside a case I already had, so I could carry it around easily. I put holes in the case for the sound to come through. I can pretty much hear everything on this monitor. Airplanes going by, cars going by on the highway over 200 feet away from the monitor and people talking, so it works great. I actually had to turn the volume down on the parent unit a notch or 2. The price on this monitor and the alarm was only about $75 total so it was worth it. I already had plenty of power banks, so I actually got to use one 100% of the time. I got this particular monitor because it had rechargeable batteries in the baby unit and you could plug it into a power bank instead of the wall outlet adapter. My husband and I have two Littles and love going camping so this was an absolute must the battery last so long the sound quality is very good. We were very surprised by the performance because they are so small, we weren’t expecting it to be so loud. It charges fast and it keeps its charge for a long time. It’s the best of the 3 audio baby monitors I’ve tried, but also over twice as expensive as the most expensive monitor I tried. $50 for half a walkie talkie is a bit much. The other big peeve of mine is that they won’t charge while they’re connected together! A big selling point for me was assuming this would be a clutter space saving feature. Why else should they magnetically connect? For travel only? What a waste of potential. They only charge individually, meaning you still need two cables connected to them most of the time if you want them ready to go. Overall I’m disappointed but hey at least they work. ... show more

    • FINALLY a true battery operated monitor!
Updating the review after using it for a few months: Battery doesn’t last a whole night. Which may be fine if you’re home but definitely not okay for camping. Another issue is, You’ll be woken up MOTN, if the units are not plugged in, by the beeping sound alerting you of the low battery issue. Ugh. Then my dog chewed one of the charging cables and the units will not charge with any other cables that aren’t the original Motorola. I can’t find a place to buy another original cable to replace it, which means only one of the units can be plugged in all night - and now we’re woken up by the low battery beep of the unplugged unit. So this monitor is only useful during power outages if you don’t have both cables (unless you don’t mind being woken up by the low battery beeping sound). Frustrating. Still, this is the only baby monitor I could find with rechargeable, however short-loved, batteries. — All the other baby monitors I could find would have only the parent unit as battery operated and never the baby unit. When on travel (or during power outages), it was extremely frustrating. Now this product solves all those issues! It’s lightweight and super easy to bring along, comes with a carry bag, good sound quality, and decently priced. Motorola used to have a nanny cam that had a battery too but it didn’t last a year. I was very disappointed in that. Now, I can’t speak for the durability of this one yet but I do like that it’s rechargeable and since it doesn’t have a screen, I am hoping it will last a while! ... show more

We got these monitors to use with my 92 year old mother. The range is more than I expected we can hear her from most all of our 185x275 yard. Pick up is wonderful and the device is very portable. If you need a monitor system this is the one

    • Great Wireless Set - has saved so many chickens
Bought this so I could hear chickens when they slept in case a predator got into their area and it has saved so many allowing me to intervene. Battery life lasts for 1 all night session but then needs recharged but is amazing quality for the distance. Met expectations and then some!

After the power in my disabled daughter’s room went out, 2 nights consecutively, I knew I had to get that fixed but because Amazon can deliver overnight, I went ahead and bought this battery operated room monitor. This way I will hear her in the night during any kind of black out situation. I appreciate it because it is sleek and not baby-ish, and doesn’t add any commentary after being turned off all day.
