Just once had a issue with the connection that was resolve, after that zero problem. The only downside of this equipment is that is very fragile, I don't think it will survive one fall. This is a quality camera set for babies. We use ours for our live-in elderly man with Alzheimer's. We had been using ours 24/7 all year, but I wouldn't suggest using it 24/7. We have noticed the battery life is very short if you constantly use it like we did. I'm sure it works great for part-time use for babies. We bought this monitor set after friends of ours told us it was the best one they have had. Boy did we have the opposite experience. Ours NEVER, and I mean NEVER stays connected to our children’s monitors in their rooms. It worked okay for the first few months but has gotten worse and worse over time. Every night one or the other (and sometimes both) disconnects and we’re forced to find ways to get it back reconnected in the middle of the night causing us to lose sleep and deal with it. The product says range of 1000 feet but we can’t get it to connect from one foot away some days. Our sons room is directly above ours and is disconnects more than the other with maybe 12-15 feet of distance from viewing screen to monitor. We’ve tried WiFi and direct connection and nothing. I’ve emailed and contacted Vtech countless times to NOT ONCE be responded to. I couldn’t be more disappointed in the lack of response/service from Vtech ahead of how poor the unit actually works. Oh and then out of the blue one day, the kickstand on the back just decided to disintegrate off the back so now it doesn’t even stand up. What a nightmare of a purchase. Will not be purchasing anything from Vtech for our family or a gift ever again. ... show more

As a mother of 3 boys, I’ve had my fair share of baby monitors. This is by far the best one we’ve had! Easy to set up, the sound quality is amazing, it connects easily, the picture quality is outstanding, the night vision looks like it’s day, and it’s durable!

We loved our single VTech camera, so when baby number 2 came, I knew I wanted the dual. It works well if you have each camera up separately. It does glitch if you try to watch both cameras at the same time. It gets blurry and is a good 10-15 seconds delayed. We use it on the monitor and app. They work very similar. OVERALL: I think this camera is best used in well lit settings where you want an economical, general picture of what is going on, and not where you might want a clear enough close up so you can see your babies nostrils expanding. The BAD: ✫"Full color": FALSE, unless the only colors are black, white, and red. Only in the brightest conditions (windows open on a sunny day plus all lights on) do any colors show up. And even then, they're muted and a far, far cry (like, thousands of miles far) from what is demonstrated on the packaging or product page. ✫ "Need more detail? The camera zooms up to 2 times": Mine only zooms once, and zooming does the opposite of enhancing detail. Instead, zooming in to my kid some 7 feet away from the camera turns into a blurry, pixelated mess reminiscent of videos captured on the first ever smart phones. The OK: ✫"...pan and tilt to get a better look at every angle in the nursery...": It does this pretty well. The side to side view is generous enough to scan my living room to my kitchen, but the 23 degrees up and down does cut off a fair chunk of those rooms. ✫ "2 way talk". This works but with 2 caveats: there is a delay between talking into the parent unit and it coming through the camera, and the image on the unit is frozen for the duration of the "talk" button being pushed. The GOOD: ✫Temperature sensor appears to be fairly accurate in that it reads the same as my thermostat. ✫ "Easy installation". Yes. Plug the camera in and turn the parent unit on, and you're ready to go. ✫ Zero connection issues. Whether I'm in my house or in the yard, I've never once had it disconnect. ✫ I have another Vtech that uses the same model parent unit (it's a 2 non-panning, stationary camera bundle) and that's been in use for 4 months. In that time, I haven't had a single issue with the battery, connection, etc. ✫At half its suggested price, it's a good value. It's far from perfect, but it makes video monitoring accessible to people that don't have a lot of funds (me, namely). However, if I was going to/could spend a hundred or more on a camera, I'd definitely look elsewhere. ✫Not wifi. Since my wi fi can be choppy at the best of times, I wouldn't want to rely on it in order to have a working camera. Not to mention, I'm a little leery of having video of the inside of my home on a network that could potentially be hacked. ... show more
