I bought this for by daughter who has two cats. There's always a mess on her floor. The biggest problem is the water they splash out. With the other mats the water gets underneath and molds. She doesn't see it. She loves this mat! It's easy to wipe or sweep up the dried food the cat scatter and the water does not go through the mat. No mold and no smell. It's so easy to clean.
