My cat Pekka is a big dude and indoor only. I was faced with trying to figure out how to move him across the country with me the least traumatic way possible as well as cost effective. I wasn't sure if he'd even like this, but it was my only shot. During set up, the quality of it really struck me, it's very well put together. The stitching is secure, the poles are sturdy, even the hammocks are great, though they shed right out of the package. As soon as I put it together, he jumped in and staked claim. Woo! But would he still love it during a 3000 mile road trip? I also bought a triangular cat hut for him that fits perfectly on one side. He's not one for beds, but it gave him a place to hide if he wanted. He loved that so much that I had to carry him and the hut into the house when we arrived. He was completely comfortable thr whole trip, to the point that when we stopped for me to use the facilities, and I had to take him in with me in his little crate, he hid from me. 'Course in 90-100+F weather, he was out voted. It's been about 2 months since we moved, and he still uses it. We ordered 2 of these carriers. One black and one blue with clear plastic cover. We really like these. Unfortunately the blue one arrived in box with broken roof support. We posted pics of both types to share. Feels slight flimsy. Think these be suited for tame cats. Both carriers arrived in two different packages. One was packaged better and survived the shipment while the blue one did not. So we will be returning the blue one in exchange of a new one. We intend to buy another one as we do like these. Just hope seller will not send us a defective one. Thanks. Review Update: Changing from 3 stars to 5 stars in that seller was very responsive to the broken one that I received. Per seller, the product was broken in transit. Seller offered a free replacement. As for the black one that I bought, it still works good. I bought this carrier for my move from Louisiana to Oregon. I have two cats (11lb and 13lb), one of which is notoriously bad at travel. The last time he had been on an extended car trip before this move, we used a regular single cat carrier for each of them on a ~5hr hurricane evacuation, and he bellowed the entire way there and back. With this carrier, I was able to keep them together, provide litterbox access, and let them have enough room to move around a bit. They got a bit grumpy and cried for some parts of the ride, but overall they were so so so so so much happier than I ever anticipated they would be on a 2800 mile trek. They love the little hammocks and even sometimes went back in the carrier while we were stopped at hotels. Our trip overall was a nightmare (multiple tire blowouts, running out of gas on the exit ramp to a gas station, car troubles, exorbitant pet fees at hotels, getting separated when only one car had a working cell phone), but having a solution for keeping my boys secure and reasonably comfortable helped keep me sane. ... show more

So I ordered this last minute for a 26+ hr road trip backseat carrier for our two, sensitive, insane, 16lb cats. We had two flexible individual cat carriers already but I wanted them to have more space as well as proximity to each other - though not direct access - which this provides with the double capacity plus the center divider...We took to calling it the Thunderdome. It arrived partially assembled with some of the middle metal boning in, and it was fairly straightforward to join and insert the rest of the tubes. Before we even finished assembly, both cats took turns hanging out in the (somewhat collapsed) Thunderdome. I think that was good for some exposure, we put some nice treats and Matatabi in as well in hopes that they'd associate it with nice snacks and wigging out. For the drive, we loaded the assembled dome into the backseat of our car. We initially messed up the positioning; the thunderdome has a zipper window-doors on each end, but it only has side-facing zipper window-doors on one side. We first loaded with the side window-doors facing the backseat before realizing and flipping it around so that the driver and passenger could have direct access to unzip, reach in, and provide treats/water/pets/exorcism/etc. All zipper window-doors have two-zipper mechanism, which is preferable, as well as a vinyl flap that can be opened or Velcroed shut. The middle divider flap is vinyl with two-zipper closure. Here comes the trouble. Our otherwise sweet and chill boy becomes completely possessed by his demonself on car rides, or when he is enclosed in a carrier. He has in the past clawed a giant hole in the side of a flexible carrier, so I was on guard. Luckily, despite his best scratchy efforts, he was unable to claw another hole in the Thunderdome, so points there for sturdiness. But, at about hour 20, possessedboi decided he was going to visit his sister, on the other side of the vinyl divider. His sister did not want him to visit her, we did not want him to visit her, nobody else on the highway wanted him to visit her, but he went ahead and just punched his chonky, 16lb, clawed-self through the closed zipper. So, Thunderdome: 1, demoncat: 1, zipper: -1000. The zipper was ultimately fixable, but it was a rough 5mi to the next stop of having to keep a sideflap open to reach in to hold the divider closed with one hand while trying to control demoncat from escaping from said sideflap with the other. He calmed down after that luckily so maybe partially destroying the carrier was the ritual needed to sate his frustration. Anyway, all-in-all, this was a great carrier. Durable, spacious, lots of access, airy, comfy for the kitties. I took a star off because the divider failure caused an hour of stressful, on-the-road drama. I think a stronger zipper, zipper lock, or non-vinyl divider might be a better design. Otherwise, the Thunderdome was a great carrier and met all our needs! If your cats/pets like each other, or if they're not possessed by Cathulhu, I highly recommend it! Will definitely use it again, but not without some divider reinforcement. ... show more

Extremely difficult to put together. I asked a few strong friends to assemble the rods for me, they also found it impossible to push the poles into the connecting brackets and were worried about breaking the bracket. The tent itself is very flimsy and will not even stand up without the rods. I bought 2 of these and will be returning. They are useless if I can't put them together. The videos connected to this tent are the assembly of totally different tents. ... show more
