I received a 2-pillow queen set. The Amazon package is labeled "heavy"... Which is kinda funny (I mean things like litter and cat food which way more are not)... Still it even on vacation that these were seriously stuffed pillows. The box inside the Amazon packaging had two tightly rolled and air vacuumed out sleeves of gray. I chose to open them up, let them fluff up and in the course of about 30 hours they became downright thick AND FIRM. My standard pillow case would fit the length IF these pillows were pithy...but no kidding, they are jam packed. I HAD no choice but to use king-sized cases. I tried to sleep with them as-is. I usually begin on my side, but for my 5' 4" frame, and my husband's 5-9, the height couldn't be bridges by my shoulder! And for grins and giggles, I rolled to my back and the thickness of these stuffed pillows would never work. That night we quickly swapped back to our old pillows. The next day I investigated. The OUTER, cool-to-touch, slightly quilted casement with a wonderful zipper when opened hides another zippered pillowcase and inside that zipper is where you can get to the mounds of torn memory foam pieces. I removed what I thought was a significant amount, yet the pillow was still too stuffed. Finally, for myself, I removed about 40% of the fill (as did my husband) and we enjoyed the fluff without the too-firm height. And I could use my standard pillow cases. I add these are smell - free. The outer cover doesn't stay cool but for the initial use, but I knew that would be the case. I am amazed. I think these would simply be awesome as-is if you want a supportive pillow to sit up in bed against. These are a superior find! ... show more

This twin pack is a good deal. It is squishy and comfy but also firm enough for shoulder support for side sleepers. Pillows comes with inserts and pillow cases. Pillow cases are removable through the side zips. Even the inserts have zips so the firmness and height can be adjusted by adding or reducing the foam shreds. The pillow cases are double sided. One side feels like short velvet and provides a soft touch and warm feeling. The other side is smooth and silky(not made of real silk though) and provides a cool feeling for the first several minutes when sleeping on it. My skin still get to feel warm(not as warm as the other side) a moment later but I just move my head a bit to a "new" area, I feel cool again. My only complain is that it has mild odors when first opened. But it went away after few days. ... show more

I'd never tried shredded memory foam pillows before, and I was surprised how much I ended up loving them! These pillows offer great support to my head, neck, and shoulders, and give you a close snug fit all around. The filling is a good balance of firm and soft, but probably lean a bit more on the soft side. Despite the foam, they're surprisingly not hot at all and the fabric breathes well during sleep. A queen sized sham fit just fine on them. They did have a faint plastic scent when I first opened them, but it dissipated after a few days. Excellent quality, would totally recommend! ... show more

I love a good memory foam pillow and like the idea of the shredded foam that I could punch up or shift around to suit me. The pillows arrived tightly packed and shrink wrapped but puffed up quickly and by significant amount. The removable cover does indeed feel cool to the touch and I like the idea of it being washable. I wouldn’t have chosen for it to be such a dark gray because it will most likely show through my lighter linens. BUT (and it’s a big one). I haven’t been able to use them yet. Immediately upon opening them they reeked of a chemical smell. It’s like a latex or something. Most likely the foam. I’m not talking about a light smell that airs out in a couple of hours. I’m talking about a strong heavy stench that I can smell from across the room. No chance that I’m laying my head on it and breathing it in all night. I’m hoping they air out but it isn’t looking good. Pretty disappointed. ... show more

These are memory foam pieces, I believe, as they aren't a solid memory foam. They swell up pretty decently after you open them, but they are pretty flat when your head lays down on them. They are still comfortable, but I need more than about 2-3 inches of pillow after my head hits it. So I have given these to my kids and they absolutely love them. This is the 3rd set of shredded memory foam pillows that I have gotten but the first set with the cooling feature. I'm always a bit skeptical when something says it's cooling but these actually did feel cool to the touch. The first 2 sets that I got came with an extra bag of memory foam, so you could add to the pillow depending on your preference but this set did not. I do appreciate that there are 2 liners since you can't dry the memory foam, so I will be able to remove the outer cover and not have to worry about where to put the memory foam filling while I'm washing the cover.
