I think maybe just for good measure i'll lightly oil it this year before winter sets in. I bought this for traveling around Europe and locking my luggage in hostel lockers. For its use it was perfect. The only issues I had were lockers with too small a lock opening for the bolt on this lock to fit through. I looked at lock after lock when deciding which to buy for my gym locker. It seemed like every lock had decent reviews but two common complaints: (1) it could easily be popped with a trick you can learn by watching a YouTube video, and (2) it did not stand the test of time. Eventually, I decided on this lock. It promised that it would be more effective at securing my belonging as it would not be popped because there is not key hole. Also, it was made out a stronger, heavier metal that I felt would hold up to the test of time. Some of the reviews seemed to suggest otherwise, but with no perfect lock out there I decided to give it a shot. And I am glad that I did. The combination feature is convenient. The lock is twice the weight of a standard master lock, which makes me feel my belongings are more secure. And, it has given me ZERO problems in the gym. The only thing I might warn about is that the upper loop is heavier than most locks--meaning that the circumference is larger. As such, it might not fit all lockers. I use a standard gym locker and have not problem. However, if it was even slightly larger, I am not sure it would fit. ... show more

I've had this lock for probably five years now, used almost every day. It's been a loyal companion on my trips to the gym. Yesterday I dropped it on a hard floor, and now the detents on the code wheels no longer work. When I turn one wheel, some or all of the others turn with it. If I hold the already set wheels with my thumb, I can set the others, and the lock will open. But now, instead of a pleasure, it's a pain in the neck. ... show more

I bought two of these and one is working fine. The other one seems to have corroded and getting the proper combination to the lock is difficult because the numbers are difficult to move; once I get it in, the lock will still not open. Bought this to padlock the gate on our metal backyard fence. The black coating seems sturdy on the outside of the lock. It’s been through several storms now and looks just as new as when we bought it. Changing the combination to whatever you want is incredibly easy: insert key, turn, dial the combination, turn key, remove. Security-wise that feature may be a negative if it’s guarding something important and that key isn’t unique, but for us it’s just keeping neighborhood kids out of our yard. ... show more

This a lock has all features secure, sturdy, good size. I use this to lockdown kayak trailer. The combo dials feel a bit sticky, but after a small drop of lubricant, it’s smooth.
