  • The only color I use anymore
Color: Atomic Turquoise
I have been coloring my hair teal/turquoise for almost 9 years now. I’ve used so many brands, and I keep coming back to Manic Panic, and the amplified versions are my favorite. It’s easy to use, doesn’t damage my hair, and lasts a long time. Some tips - start with clean hair. No leave-ins or styling products. Leave the color on for as long as you can. I leave it on for hours, covered with a shower cap. Then after the initial rinse out, don't wash it for as many days as you can handle. You’ll see some run-off the first couple times you wash it, but then you’re good to go for a very long time. It also fades very nicely. It will turn into a beautiful pastel minty green if you let it go long enough. And yes, I do bleach before coloring (only my roots since I use the same color every time) so this is the result on a light blonde. I’ve tried so many other mediocre to terrible brands, so for as long as I keep this color, I’ll be using Manic Panic’s atomic turquoise. ... show more

  • You MUST bleach your hair to get Cotton Candy Pink!
I've now been using Manic Panic Cotton Candy for 7 months. (Why did I wait so long to get up the courage to dye my hair pink?) This is definitely a keeper. The color goes well with my complexion which should be true for pink, but not all pinks are "created equally". I read many reviews of how people don't get the color on the bottle. You must bleach your hair to almost white to achieve the Cottton Candy pink on the bottle. In this photo, I was at the 4-week stage and as it washes out, it starts to turn a salmon/peach color. But the more I dye it, the more I've learned. I have to bleach my hair every 6 weeks. Then I dye it 3 times during those 6 weeks of no bleach. Since its vegan, it won't damage your hair like bleach does. I leave the Cotton Candy in a minimum of 2 hours, sometimes 5 hours if I have nothing going on. The more often you keep putting the Cotton Candy in, the more your hair shafts will hold onto the color, but you must start with the "white hair canvas". Then you'll be amazed at how much your hair is the same as the color on the bottle and how gorgeous the color will be, plus how soft your hair will feel. My one regret was buying the two-pack of the Manic Panic Cotton Candy. I always buy 2 bottles at a time and noticed that Amazon sold it in a two-pack. Not paying attention to the price until I got my credit card bill, I was shocked that Amazon charges extra for the two-pack. It's about $2.00 cheaper to buy 2 bottles than the two-pack. I know that sounds crazy, but I made that mistake only once. There is no difference in size or quantity/volume of 2 separate bottles than the two-pack. So anyone else who buys the Cotton Candy Amplified, buy the 2 bottles. Amazon doesn't need our extra hard-earned dollars. As for whether the Amplified actually makes a difference, I'm not quite sure. This is what I started using originally, so I don't want to change a good thing. However, I also add 3 drops of Pink Shrine into the Manic Panic Cotton Candy and mix it really well in a plastic hair dyeing bowl. I then saturate my hair, using a hair dyeing brush, after first separating my hair into quarters. My hair is fairly short, but I use 2 bottles of Manic Panic every time I dye it. Then I place a plastic shower cap on my head and 2+ hours later, I have the color that's on the bottle. It's hard work to keep up with this Cotton Candy pink, but for me, it works! ... show more

  • The best!
I've been using MP for over 30 years, have tried all the reds, pinks and purples, and I always come back to hot hot pink because it shows up best on dark hair and lasts the longest. I think their hair before and after chart is underselling it, because I have dark brown hair and it comes out a totally noticeable and awesome purplish color (with bright pink "highlights" from all the greys I have now, lol!). I have naturally wavy/curly, DRY, porous hair, so these kinds of dye work great for me. If you think it fades fast, just stay away from shampoo and hot water as much as you possibly can. Before dyeing I wash my hair with dish soap (sounds crazy, I know) and hot water, then blow dry til it's bone dry for maximum absorption. I also use like a bottle and a half for my (thick) shoulder length hair, and leave the dye in for way more than half an hour. It doesn't take long for the water to run clear when I rinse (with water as cold as I can stand). Then I slather it with leave-in conditioner/hair oil and rinse again in the morning. Afterwards I go back to my normal curly girl routine of co-washing with cool water, so it lasts a loooong time, with the added bonus of making my hair less parched and frizzy looking. It tames my coarse, wiry, fly-away greys like nobody's business! Amplified definitely does last longer than classic, worth the extra few bucks! Will add a freshly dyed pic later. =) ... show more

  • BEAUTIFUL
Color: Enchanted Forest
Update: I color every 14 -18 days. I've become quite a pro now haha. Got it down to a science in less time and mess. Vaseline is your friend. I LOVE this color - specially chosen to go with my eyes. I had my hair professionally bleached before coloring. This product made my hair shiny and vibrant. I have received a lot of compliments. This is an emerald/peacock green. And its stunning! I wash every 2nd to 3rd day in cool water. It still fades quickly but I also use more heat than I should when styling. DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR SKIN - if you can. I did get it on my scalp and it took a couple washes to get it off. I did wear gloves so my hands were fine. I also applied vaseline around my hair line and ears and it helped. I did a first rinse in my kitchen sink as it is stainless steel. Then I moved to the tub. My tub was blue for days until I bleached it which made the blue disappear instantly. Cover your hair WELL when sleeping or you will have a blue face and blue pillow cases. Use an old towel or shirt when drying it. Do not get caught in the rain without cover. It will bleed. If you have long hair do not wear a light colored shirt if you're going to wear your hair down. It will rub off onto the fabric. That also goes for shoulder length hair down on a collared shirt. I don't swim in public pools but I'd say avoid that too. This all sounds so negative but its soooooo worth the color and feel! Just want to give y'all a heads up. Sometimes sacrifices have to made. "Beauty is pain." ... show more
