We had an electric fireplace that we had been using in our basement for years. We got it as a gift and it was great. Lately, it started having issues and it seems it was time to replace it. I started looking for a new one, put a few in my wishlist and ending up buying one that was highly recommended.....only to have it not work right out of the box. I returned it and went back to my wishlist. This was the next one I chose. This LifeSmart LifePro Electric Infrared Fireplace Heater looks almost identical to the one we were replacing and I honestly should have ordered it in the first place. Such a breeze it was! All I had to do was open the box, plug it in and viola! It works great! Our basement has 3 rooms with an open space and is about 900 square feet total. We do keep the door closed to one of the rooms but this heats the entire basement in under 20 minutes. It has 3 heat settings: 1000 watt, 1500 watt and eco. It also has an overheat and tip over switch. You can adjust the brightness for the flames and it has a digital thermostat with a 12 hour timer. It does come with a remote but so far, we haven't used it. It's also very elegant and easy to clean. We haven't had any issues with it feeling hot on the top so we are able to set a few small items on the mantle. I was a bit leery about getting the stone one but it's so beautiful that I'm glad I did. It's not real tall, sitting at a little over 2 feet, but that's perfect for the room we have it in.     • This is a beautiful, realistic fireplace
This uses real wood trim and some sort of stone as the surround. It has a very large viewing area for the overall size. I have seen many fireplaces $$$ more expensive than this one, that use shiny cheap plastic ‘bricks’. I do not use the heat function very often, but it works well. I mostly just view the fire view for ambiance and relaxation. I purposely do not use the remote control, because I want to make myself get up and manually control the intensity of the flames. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My apartment complex decided to get rid of the fireplaces and chimneys in the apartments of the tenants who live on the top floor. They claim leaking due to rain storms and having a fireplace is a fire hazard. I was highly upset. I had to improvise because sealing off the fireplace is a ridiculous idea and I love fireplaces. This heater is very cute and fits just enough to cover the eyesore. It came fully assembled. I tested it for the heat and it didn't disappoint. It gives great heat. You have to set the thermostat to at least 75° for the heat function to work. The only issues I have are I wish it was a little bigger, the flame lighting is brighter, the crackling noise was louder and the overall cost. It should be a little cheaper. I have a large living room/dining room combo that is hard to heat. I was using an unattractive space heater that looked like a radiator.........it made the area near my recliner warm but was not at all attractive!! This fireplace came out of the box ready to go. I cut the box off of it and slid it onto the area I wanted it to be. Turned it on, it goes to 72 automatically. It is now heating up my seating area and feels wonderful. I do have one complaint,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.I asked if this came on wheels and the answer I got was yes. Mine did not come with wheels and it is heavy, wheels would make it easier on me to slide it out closer to my chair. I put furniture "sliders" under the legs and in the future will pay my handyman to attach small wheels. I only need to move it about 45 degrees from the wall it sits on, but it is heavy to be moving without wheels. Otherwise it heats wonderfully and I would recommend it for warming an area that is not too large. Also mine came in a tan color which is a perfect match to my light mocha walls!! This is a very cute fireplace/heater. It is small, so check the measurements, but fits well in my living room. I mainly use it for ambiance. The heater does work well. I like the "stone" sides and the wood top. I would recommend this product!

    • thermostat does not operate properly
the thermostat sensor is not properly place in the unit. thru trial and error, i figured this out. our room temp was 72deg. i set thermo to 74 and unit did not start to heat. i had to turn up to 76 before it would come on. what i noticed was even with out the heat on, the unit itself was warm (the front glass was warm and top of unit felt a little warm ) so i thought maybe it had to be the lights making the unit warm. so i turned off the flame so it would cool. i let it sit for one day without the flame on. then on the next day (room temp was still 72 deg.) i turned unit on and set thermo to 74. after a min or so the unit came on and started to heat like its supposed to. so thats what this review is about. the thermo sensor is registering the built up heat of the lights from the fake flame and causing the thermostat to not operate the way its supposed. unless there is a way to move the sensor from "feeling" the warmth of the lights, the thermostat is not going to work the way it should. no more than 3 star because of this. ... show more

This works very well. It will heat up almost any area. The only problem with it is the thermometer is not very accurate. It will turn off to soon if you don't have it set to a higher temperature than the room is. Meaning if you set it to 76f and you know the room temperature is 72f it won't turn on. The media could not be loaded. It’s a gorgeous fireplace. I love the crackling noise similar to having actual wood burn however it doesn’t heat and that’s main reason for purchasing. If you want a dainty little fireplace to accent your furniture this is it, just don’t expect it to heat your room at all!! ... show more
