My firebox could have handled the 25" insert although the 23" looks pretty good. First, I was pleased product had a "low cheese" factor. I was expecting a "cheesier" result looking more fake, but after putting it in place and operating it, the appearance is good. I routed the power cord through a knock-out plug in the ceramic and fished the cord through it. I did have to move some sheet metal to open a path down to the internal electrical socket in the bottom of the fireplace. [My firebox is a "Heatalator" with a circulation fan that pulled the heat surrounding the firebox and out into the room. The fan is located in the bottom which I unplugged from the internal outlet replacing it with the electric appliance.] The project did take tools to open the way for the plug, but once done, the cord is hidden in this application. My intent was to NOT have a visible electric cord. I also did not install the semi-circular screen to the back of the appliance. The firebox has the "patina" of the prior wood fires and the projection of flames make the appearance realistic. The plastic screen would be too noticeable and obviously a sign of being fake. As is, I left the screen to diffuse the look and maintain a more "natural" appearance. ... show more

We ordered the white birch 23" and received the oak version even though the box has a sticker that says white birch. We definitely did not get the correct unit. Assembly is no problem as you really only have to attach the plastic piece in the back with two thumb screws. We tried it without the plastic first and actually debated keeping the plastic off because you did get some flame effect on the back wall without it. We did put it on though because you get more flames with it even though it is kind of noticeable when there are lights on in the room. The heater works OK. Not as good at the enclosed rolling unit we use on our sunporch but it does provide a bit more warmth to the room. We didn't run it that long so maybe it will be better after a longer period of time. The "crackling" sounds are actually kind of funny on high volume but nice on the lower setting. The remote is a bit finicky. I'm not sure if the receiver is blocked by our fireplace grate but we have to push buttons multiple times and sometimes stand up to get it to work. Overall I like the fireplace but I'm trying to decide if I want to return it for the white birch that we ordered or just keep the oak. It's frustrating to have to pack it all up again and go ship it back. Update: We did decide to return the oak version the next day because we thought the white birch (which is what we ordered the first time) would look better in our fairly dark fireplace. It looks WAY better in our opinion. Much more realistic. The remote works a little better on this unit but the crackling noise is also a little louder even on the lowest setting. I'm not a fan of the noise because it sounds pretty tinny as others have mentioned but my husband likes it. Overall, we're happy with the 23" white birch model. One thing to consider if you have a screen in front of your fireplace and it has the two decorateive pieces that slide in to hold it in place (sorry I don't know what you call them but they are in the picture I'm attaching), they may not work with this unit in there because the bottom of it is one solid piece. Ours just barely fit and the 25" model defintely would have been a problem. ... show more

I cannot believe how REAL this looks!!! It IS behind the closed glass doors of my original wood fireplace and I cannot comment on the heat feature. I wanted to get rid of the glass doors but lost that vote. I did try with and without frosted plastic screen and prefer it without. The power cord is ~6 foot long and comes from the right side. My closest outlet is to the left and the cord is stretched tight to reach it, I wish it was about 8 foot instead. ... show more

We had talked for a couple of years about looking for an insert fireplace heater for our non-functioning fireplace. As you can see from pictures, I had just unpackaged heater and set it in fireplace. Easy to assemble and the remote works great. I look forward to staging with fireplace screen of some kind. It puts off a fair amount of heat, definitely enough to warm the one living area. The sound effect function is pretty lame and we don't use it. My parents liked ours so well that they requested we gift them one for Christmas, so I'll be ordering a second heater. ... show more

It looks super realistic! The sound is a little "tin can'y" but the other reviewer with the speaker replacement/upgrade is spot on. But it! You won't be disappointed! I plan to build a corner TV stand to house this fire later....

The media could not be loaded. I could not be happier with this product! It came well packaged, it came quickly and it was simply unpack and plug it in. Lightweight and so easy to move around. I am truly shocked at how realistic it looks. I opted not to use the Half Moon plastic piece, it was very noticeable and I didn't like it. The "flames" dance on the back of my firebox without it. I played with the settings a bit to get it like I wanted and settled with the flame on high with a little bit of blue, the heater on the thermostat and the lowest of the crackling sounds without the wind, altho undecided if i like it. I also placed an Alexa dot on the hearth and when I ask it to play a crackling fireplace it sounds great. Actually removed gas logs, they were sooty, propane is expensive and I had to pay someone every fall to light the pilot, Not to mention rent the tank. So happy to have that tank picked up the other day! I looked at electric fireplaces in a showroom that were over $1200 and honestly this one is more realistic with bigger "logs". This is literally perfect! Gives me the ambience of a fire without the mess or expense. 10 stars! ... show more
