I bought this fan to replace my previous Lasko fan (Lasko 20" Wind Tunnel with Remote Control A20700). That fan lasted for about a decade before it died on me. This fan seems to be just as loud as my old fan (a good thing for me since I like the white noise). It's also just as good at helping me to cool off as my old fan. The problem is that the build quality of this fan is a HUGE step down from my old fan and other older Lasko products. The plastic feels very cheap and some pieces of it (see my attached photos) don't even fit together properly. Unlike my previous fan, there's also no way to lock this fan into place if you try to tilt it higher or lower. That means if you don't tilt this fan with another object, it will ALWAYS go back to facing straight forward pretty much the instant you let go of it. All of that is pretty sad considering the age difference between my old fan and this one. It seems like Lasko has intentionally started cutting corners to reduce build costs and the quality of some of their newer fans (such as this one) has suffered because of it. I just can't in good faith recommend this fan because of that. Unless these issues are addressed by the time I buy my next fan, I'll likely just buy one of Lasko's older models instead of a newer one. ... show more

This is a great fan, but after three years, the plastic knob on the back spins without clicking into on/off and the speed settings. It only works on low, where it was set when it malfunctioned. On/off is plug in and unplug. A three-year life span, because it might not be safe to use. As an update, after communicating with Lasko customer service and explaining that the fan had only been used a total of +/- ten months during the warmest two months where I live, they issued a complimentary replacement.     • Repetitive sound
Update: less than 24 hours later the weird sound has gone away for whatever reason, and I’m happy with the fan… I’m bummed my fan makes a weird repetitive sound which I find really distracting when trying to sleep. I bought this fan to replace another fan that was making a weird noise. I didn’t expect the new one to also. I need white noise to sleep as I hear everything. The blast of air is really great though like other reviewers were saying and I do like that when I tilt the fan it doesn’t make a loud noise like my current Cyclone does. There isn’t a remote if that’s important to you. I’m on the fence about returning it or keeping for other parts of the house and searching for another one that makes a constant sound for the bedroom. ... show more

I am a girl that needs a loud fan to sleep. I searched high and low for one but everyone prefers quiet fans now days. This one is loud and powerful and I love it! If you’re not into that I’d imagine it would be great to air out a basement if you were painting or something.

Just died after 4 years. I guess that's a good run? I wish things lasted longer. Anyway it produces a ton of air. I bought it mostly for white noise for sleeping and it is indeed loud which I love but might be a problem for anyone looking for quiet.
