  • Great bandsaw and easy delivery
Size: 220 volt
I ordered this saw on Wednesday and it arrived within the scheduled time slot on Saturday. It arrived in perfect condition. Laguna does an awesome job with safely packing the saw and parts. I opened the box and removed everything except the saw to lighten the load before moving it downstairs. The saw comes mostly assembled. I installed the feet before standing the saw up, which worked well. I had the entire saw assembled and aligned within an hour. I used Laguna’s 14/12 bandsaw (similar saw) setup video to assist with setting the ceramic guides. I installed a Timberwolf 3/4” x 115” 2-3 TPI VPC blade for resawing. I will probably buy a Laguna Resaw King blade after my budget recovers. I made a test resaw cut in 5/4 poplar to check for drift. To my surprise, there wasn't any measurable drift that would have required a fence adjustment. After setting this saw up and using it, I would recommend investing in the mobility kit (wheels) and the 220v light kit, which I will be buying next! ... show more

  • It’s great, pull the trigger
Size: 220 volt
I decided to get a bandsaw for the first time, so I had zero experience. First bought a cheap Wen benchtop but I couldn’t for the life of me get the thing set up properly, even after watching every YouTube video out there. It cut ok, and probably works well if you can actually set it up, but it’s just not worth the frustration sometimes. As I did research I kept deciding to up my budget and finally ended up on this one. I was between the new Digital variable speed Rikon and this one, but for my purposes of using the saw almost exclusively on wood, that feature probably wouldn’t have added much value to me. And, Let’s be real... the Laguna is a way sexier machine than Rikon! Set up: Again, as a band saw virgin, setting up the blade tension and tracking was SUPER easy. After my experience with the Wen, it was almost unbelievable how easy it was. I’ve done it with a 1/4 inch blade and the 3/4 inch resaw king, and both were a snap to get set up, literally 3-4 minutes for a guy that didn’t know what he was doing. Results: I’ve used the resaw king to cut 1/8 inch slices off 10 inches of walnut no problem. Obviously to get great cuts of veneer you need to properly joint and plane the boards so you don’t get any pressure points while cutting. Ripped everything from 3/4 plywood 8 feet long to almost finish ready cherry trim pieces with no problem, I don’t use my job site table saw anymore unless I have to. Bearings: I know the ceramic bearings are a topic for debate, but I like them. I don’t cut a lot of crazy curves, but that may be an issue if you do. Only complaint on the machine is the lower set of bearings, which is a bit of a pain, but not really a big deal. Dust collection: dual collection ports are fine, not a lot of left over sawdust in the lower and very little in upper box with a small 650 CFM system. If you want a bandsaw for primarily wood (since this is a single speed), I’d buy this again with no hesitation. Had to add a 220v to upgrade to the 2.5HP mode but that was easy and a no brained considering it was the same price as the 110 smaller motor version. Quiet, extremely easy to set up perfectly (even for beginners), and cuts as good as I could wish for a bandsaw. Pull the trigger, you won’t regret it. ... show more

  • Great saw, garbage blade guides
Size: 220 volt
I purchased the 220v 2.5hp 14BX version Pros • Great power • The foot brake • Awesome resaw capacity Cons • Ceramic guides are absolutely terrible. They add friction and heat to the blade as designed and blades dull faster than with my old saw. At this price point bearing guides should be the standard! Crazy that I’ll have to spend over $300 to upgrade to the after market Carter bearing guide kit. • Does not come with a blade • Plastic tightening levers used throughout are cheap and fragile. ... show more

  • Awesome
Size: 220 volt
Easy to set up. Awesome machine. Only had it for a few weeks but so far this is a great saw. Accurate, smooth, powerful and easy to use. Great product no regrets

  • Does not come with a blade
Size: 220 volt
It does not come with a blade, which cost Laguna a star. I made that the title of the review so you see it first, much like I would have liked to have seen that prominently written in the product description. Fortunately, I ordered (what I thought was a secondary) 3/4" carbide-tipped Laguna Resaw King from Woodcraft when I bought the saw, which has been sitting in the box on my workbench waiting for the saw to arrive. The saw arrived today, delivered by UPS, in a tractor trailer which could not make the turn into my driveway so I met the driver in a nearby parking lot to transfer the 300lb box to my truck. I unloaded it and set everything up, fantasizing the entire time of making the first cut into any one of the maple, birch, walnut, oak, beech, or cedar logs I've been collecting in the driveway for the past month. When I unpackaged the bandsaw blade, the first thing I noticed was a crack in the weld, making it completely useless. I called Woodcraft and they said they would ship a replacement and I could return the defective blade later, but alas, the blade is backordered from Laguna for the next month so I now have a nice shiny ornament sitting in my workshop haunting my dreams. I would settle for the regular steel blade that came with the saw, but in case I forgot to mention it, this saw does not come with a blade. Other initial observations without having actually cut anything (I'll update later): • The cardboard box arrived horizontally on a pallet, which made it easier to unload that a vertical box would have been. As an added bonus, I now have a large pallet for stacking all of the wood I can't resaw because the saw doesn't come with a blade. • Even though it was packed in Styrofoam, one of the corners apparently took a hit in shipping so there's a minor chip in one corner of the base - Nothing was misaligned so it's not a big deal. • The saw comes with rubber feet which screw into the four corners of the base with provided bolts. • In case you want to lean forward on making your own mobile base before the saw arrives, the base measures 2 3/8" x 17 1/2" x 22 5/8". The opposite sides were closer to 17 9/16" and 22 11/16" so maybe leave 1/8" for play. • The table is large and glorious, and the aluminum insert is thick. The insert has four set screws in the corners for leveling and a screw in the middle for holding it down. After struggling to get it to sit flush with the table, I took it back out and found it to be warped. I flattened it to a satisfactory degree on a sheet of sandpaper on the flat cast-iron table. • The large aluminum fence is a big plus, but it was not square with the table. There are two set screws in the side that can be used for leveling, which seems like an inadequately-supported method but we'll see how it goes. • I turned it on to test without a blade, according to the instructions, and it's remarkably quieter than the Jet 14" I just replaced, although that one had a blade in it and this one doesn't. • The two dust collection ports look like they were well planned - The first catches dust immediately under the blade and the second catches whatever falls to the bottom. I bought some 4"-2.5" reducers so I could connect to my shop vac, but they were too small on the 4" end so I'll have to tape them on. • The dust-removal brush on the bottom wheel has two loose bolts, and I can't see any way to get a wrench or my sausage fingers in there to tighten it, so I'm not sure how to fix that obvious design flaw. It should have been on the left side of the wheel. • Considering the size of the table, it should also have a miter slot on the left side of the blade. The one on the right side seems a little too close to the edge. • It does not come with a blade. The blade in the picture was purchased separately. Update: Woodcraft found another blade, which I received today. As I've seen mentioned elsewhere, the knobs for the lower guide blocks are very difficult to adjust with man hands, but after some fiddling around they seem to be lined up well. The first cut was into an old chainsaw-cut oak turning blank that's been sitting in my shed for years. The wood is remarkably dense and heavy, but the saw did not struggle in the slightest bit and there was almost no vibration. I adjusted the tracking so the blade sits in the middle of the wheel, and it cut straight enough that I could push the wood straight along the fence. The end result was a surprisingly square, smooth, and flat block. I connected my shop vac only to the bottom port, but it seemed to capture enough dust for now. The saw is a keeper, but I'm leaving the review at four stars because of all of the little annoyances and adjustments that should have been properly set up in the factory. ... show more
