  • Great saw for the price
I was surprised by how good this saw actually is. I had to adjust the riving knife a very small amount(probably wasn't enough to matter) I tweaked the angle adjustment a tiny amount to get it perfectly 90 degrees to the table and adjusted the indicator so it showed the true angle. Everything else was spot on out of the box. It's light enough to easily loaded into the back of a truck or SUV. The folding legs make it easy to setup and take down. It also has a lever on the legs if you're on uneven surfaces. I made a resaw fence from some birch plywood and tested the cutting depth Ads say 3 1/2" cutting depth, mine will cut 3 5/8" so I can easily resaw a 2" x 8" (1.5" x 7 1/4") with this saw. This saw does everything I need it to do. The rack & pinion fence adjustment makes adjusting the fence very easy and accurate. The saw has plenty of power to rip through pressure treated and hardwood. The miter slots are accurate and the included miter attachment does a decent job although their are better miter attachments available. Build 2 or 3 jigs and an outfeed table you'll be able to do pretty much anything with this saw that can be done on a table saw. I don't know why I see some negative reviews; I think these saws are sourced from varies suppliers and some of them are sketchy. Mine came brand spanking new with no blemishes or defects of any sort. IMO; it would be difficult to find a more capable saw for the money. ... show more

  • Great saw
This is a rather inexpensive saw that has very good power and cut precise angles. It is sturdy and well made. Great for the hobby shop and medium heavy users. Light enough to move around the shop and sets up quickly.

  • Well worth the money, hands down!
Coming from an old Crafstman 10 in 15 amp contractor's saw that also had a cast aluminum table. What I really wanted this saw for was portability and the rack and pinion fence. I do all my work outside of my garage and while the Crafstman had an integrated stand with wheels, this one is light enough to carry small distances, but I just have a cheap folding hand-truck I keep with it to move into my backyard. Let's address some of the complaints people have had if you've been watching and reading a lot of reviews on this saw. I bough this mid April 2024 if anyone is reading later: 1. It's loud. I have plenty of other power tools that are loud. Use hearing protection. My circular saw is louder. 2. Almost EVERYTHING out of the box was perfectly calibrated! The only thing I had to adjust were the red indicator needles showing the bevel and the fence distance on the tape measure. 3. Tape measure is dead-on accurate. Read other reviews saying it was out, but 0-25+ inches this one is dead on. 4. Throat plate is plastic, but definitely not flimsy! Almost mistook it for metal at first. They may have beefed up the material under it that it sits on as well as It's not easy at all to push down and deflect. I easily got it flat using the adjustment screws, but it still wobbled in the back left-side of the riving knife. There was too much clearance there from the factory where the tab slips in the back. A few small pieces of painters tape on the tab and the "slot" and it's snug. It is also notched in the back so you can remove it without having to take off the riving knife and blade guard assembly, it just slides towards you and out. I think this is a new design. If you're looking to get a zero-clearance insert anyways like I am, this point it moot. 5. This is a new blade guard and riving knife design. It comes with a riving knife designed with one height, low, and no way to attach the blade guards or kick-back pawls, and also comes with one with one height, high, that the kick-back pawls can easily snap onto, but the blade guard can only be removed with screws, 4 in total, but loosening 3 will set it free. Sometimes I like the kick-back pawls still when the blade guard interferes with my push stick. I had no blade guard or pawls on my old Crafstman, so this is still an upgrade for me. Blade guard might get annoying at times, but I like it can lock in the "up" position so you can perfectly see the blade to set your cuts then drop it back to the "hanging" position. I think it cuts back on some of the dust shooting at you as well. The dust port elbow for someone like me that works outside with no dust collection is awesome! I always wear a mask and sweep (air compressor blow) when I'm finished, but having the dust shoot down keeps my clothes cleaner! There is quite a bit of plastic and aluminum in this saw, but it still feels quite sturdy! The rack and pinion probably isn't as smooth as something metal and I haven't experimented with any kind of lubrication (don't have dry lube and don't want grease or attracting dust or wearing down plastic.) But hey, $300 and 3-year warranty...I don't regret this purchase at all! I do all of my woodworking and metalworking in my backyard (California weather!) All of my large tools have to fit through a standard door on the side of my garage and be easy to set-up. Everything has wheels. When looking for a rack-and-pinion fenced table saw this was the only one in this price point with all of it's features and great reviews. I'd call myself an advanced amateur DIYer. I can work with dimensional lumber and do fine woodworking. At $300 LESS than the DeWalt, I'm happy I can spend that money on other tools now! Skil has really upped its game here...this ain't no toy, that's for sure. ... show more

  • Very versatile
Very good table saw for the hobbyist. I love the way the fence works but not so much the miter gauge. Very easy to setup and good safety features. I would recommend this saw, especially for the price, to all hobbyists.
