Description

12" Sliding dual bevel comp Miter saw. The product is easy to use. The product is durable. The product is manufactured in Taiwan. From the Manufacturer The Milwaukee 6955-20 12-Inch Sliding Dual Bevel Miter Saw (with Digital Miter Angle - Fine Adjust) features a miter angle fine adjust with detent override which makes it simple to dial-in precise miter angles. This allows the user to quickly adjust for a non-square environment. The fine adjust allows for single hand operation; (1) hand on material, (1) hand making fine adjustment. The miter angle fine adjust features a self zeroing system and it works on the ENTIRE miter angle range. Also features dual integral jobsite lights that fully illuminate the work piece and cut line from either side of the blade. This makes it easier for the user to see the blade enter the material. It also eliminates the hassle of buying and setting up independent lighting. These lights are especially beneficial on pre-finished millwork. The Milwaukee 6955-20 12-Inch Sliding Dual Bevel Miter Saw also features an electronic soft start that allows the carpenter to sneak up on the cut line without damaging material. The blade takes less than two seconds to get up to full speed, but that makes all the difference in ensuring a smooth start. The Milwaukee 6955-20 12-Inch Sliding Dual Bevel Miter Saw has a motor that features constant power technology which provides constant speed under load. The RPM (3,250) of the blade is the same at both no load and during loaded cutting. This ensures a quick, clean cut even in hardwood materials. The Milwaukee 6955-20 12-Inch Sliding Dual Bevel Miter Saw contains an integral dust channel that captures up to 75% of the dust and debris cut by capturing dust near the cut on both sides of the blade and directing it to the back of the saw. This maximizes airflow and allows waste to flow through the back elbow and into waste container. The result in the Best Dust Collection in the Industry! This saw has an oversized single lever bevel adjustment with (9) positive bevel stops which allows the saw to easily bevel left and right 0 degrees 48 degrees.

  • The best at any price
This is (in my opinion), the best overall sliding compound saw out there. I am a licensed contractor and have owned several saws, my last being a Makita 12" slider....I bought this saw because it can cut 6 1/2" tall base, it has a very bright light setup on both sides of blade. It isn't a Shadow line or a laser line saw, but if you have ever used a miter saw, you will know that actually bringing the blade down to your mark is still the most accurate way to cut. This saw has large diameter slide arms, has the least deflection I have seen on any saw, nice tall fences, and a nice robust depth of cut screw and flip out rest, which is better than the Bosch, the Makita, the Delta Cruzer. The dust chute is also very well designed, I just wish the company included a vacuum hookup with the saw since you have to buy this separately. Plus I was hoping this dust attachment would allow me to hood up a short piece of 2" hose to feed into a trash can, but this attachment is too restrictive to be used without a vacuum. Of course some things Milwaukee could do better are the method of locking the saw into chop only mode, which has a screw that tightens onto one of the slide bars, could this scratch the slide and cause a bearing failure? The issue with the fence slides seems to be guys who don't know that the fences only have one location where they must be before they can be separated from the sub-fence. So no you don't need to grind off anything for the fences to side and or be removable. My saw needed a miter adjustment when I got it, the saw comes with an Allen wrench for zeroing in the saw, and removal of the blade is also possible with either the Allen wrench or an open ended wrench. I call this the best at any price because even the Festool slider seems very cheaply made to me, it doesn't have the same vertical capacity or really any feature I could see making it worth over twice this Milwaukee saw price. Perhaps if all you make are picture frames it is slightly more accurate. Festool ok if your making dollhouses, but if your working on the real thing, get the Milwaukee! ... show more

  • best saw I ever used
If you're thinking about buying a miter saw in this price range you are a professional - or should be. This saw is not for the do-it-yourselfer. It is big - it is heavy - it is expensive - and an absolute masterpiece of a saw. I am a self proclaimed tool hound. There is little I hate more than working with a cheap tool and over the years I've happily managed to permanently loan many of those type items. Granted, with every tool there is a price point that triggers the law of "diminishing return". However, under that $750 range this saw is the one to get. I got mine for $450 on a super special but I haven't seen it less than $150 more than that lately. Out of the box, miters were dead nut. The motor is like a Rolls Royce - utilizing a "power as needed" mechanism that supplies speed & power as demand from the cut requires. This aspect makes it perfect when working with small, delicate trim. Start up is baby smooth - no surge jerk. Like all saws this size it's a 15 amp motor but it works through stock like it ran on a 220 line -- it'll cut through 4x4 oak like it was Balsa. Controls are right there where you want them. The bevel control paddle is in the back as are most. The paddle is big, smooth & easy to access - I can't see any complaints. The miter controls are sweet - the box glides as if it were on bearings - maybe it does. I have read that the micro adjustment really doesn't work, is frivolous or fails after a few months - mine is still working fine & I love it - it is sooo much better than a "tap". I have mine on a Milwaukee stand - which itself is excellent. You will not be toting this baby to a jobsite without a rolling stand - don't even think about it. You will hurt yourself, or worse, the saw. The weight issue is the result of its massive platform - this thing is a tank. If you intend to place this thing on you work bench there will be no need to secure it down - nothing you cut in your shop will jar this unit - it's got nice big foot print. The light is big, bright & out of the way of dust buildup. Speaking of dust - the bag actually works on this saw - something very few can say. The blade they give you is commensurate with the saw of this quality. The only thing I give a minus to is that the right fence does not slide - you can only remove the top portion. Well, that's out of the box. I have no idea why Milwaukee would design the saw with an immovable fence, but there it is. When I first got the saw, a friend & I spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out what we were doing wrong. I later read about a guy that ground a bit (a forged stop, actually) off of the fence and the thing would slide. After 30 minutes of debate & 10 seconds of grinding, my fence now slides like I think it should. This saw will do anything 99.999999999% of us would ever dream of doing. Read some of the other reviews, they pretty much say the same thing. Look, I wouldn't have spent the past 45 minutes writing a review if I didn't think this saw deserved it. Good luck! ... show more
