  • Really awesome tool but proprietary dust collection
Okay so if this is your first Festool brand tool, One thing to be aware of which I didn't know is that the dust collection connection for this thing is kind of a proprietary hookup that will not work with most shop vacs. They expect you to use their dust collectors which are supposedly really awesome but very expensive. So don't make the mistake I made and buy this thing thinking you'll be good to go. You can probably rig it up with tape or some unofficial adapters to work on a generic Shop-Vac. So far I've just taken it outside to cut and had it spit the dust on the floor but that's obviously not ideal. Okay dust collection woes of a poor man aside, This thing cuts through wood like butter! The track it uses makes it easy to line up the perfect cuts and with the corded power this thing just zips through wood and creates very clean lines. The instructions are great and there are tons of videos online too if you want. The build quality is superb and having the box to store it in is great so it stays protected and organized. Overall I really like it but one of these days I'm going to have to also get a dust collector which are several hundred dollars minimum. They have a lot of different dust collectors and I'm actually going to have to research which one to get but none of them are cheap by usual definitions. ... show more

  • Where has this been all my life?!
What more can I say. This thing is beyond fantastic! Expensive for a casual woodworking hobby, but even so, it’s a wonderful saw. The cuts are clean and straight. The plunge is slick. I will use it often? Making it a great tool. Worth every penny.

  • I really WANTED to hate this saw...
...but it's EXCELLENT. It's robust, easy to use, makes an excellent cut and trivializes breaking down panels/sheet goods-the crooked edge on my scraps is the factory edge. It does one (very common) task with exceptional proficiency.

  • Precision Cuts for the Cabinet Maker
This is my first Festool purchase. As a first-time cabinet builder, I purchased this to break down my 4' x 8' sheets of plywood. Could not be more pleased with the results I achieved. Super accurate and very smooth cuts. For some of my smaller pieces I was using my Delta Contractors table saw and realized going to the Festool track saw gave me better results, so I switched these cuts to use the track saw. Also used to cut down some maple 3/4" stock and the cut was like it came out of a jointer. Also using to cut some man-made countertop. While Festool carries a premium, this was well worth the premium. ... show more

  • Best cuts you can imagine (where a track saw can be used)
This track saw provides the best cuts for cutting large panels; it is a bit pricey. BUT it does the job wonderfully. I used it for cutting 3/4 baltic plywood -- exactly as laidout; I used it for cutting birch butcher block (1.5 inch thick) -- perfect cuts and it didn't even appear to slow down in either case I highly recommend it ... show more

  • Great
Works great only thing I don't like is the cut line is white plastic and hard to line up to cut line. Would be better if was black

  • Fantastic tool
Plywood has always been difficult on the table saw working by yourself. This tool is easy to use, accurate, and gives you a perfect cut edge for furniture grade finishes.

  • In a word - Awesome
The Oracle became aware of this tool while watching the videos made by The Dusty Lumber Company. (Highly Recommended!) As with most things, there are various ways to cut down large sheet items like plywood in home shops - some more difficult and imprecise than others, especially for one person. Believe me, the Oracle has a LOT of experience trying to feed a 4x8 sheet of plywood through a cabinet makers table saw and with setting/clamping a straight edge on a sheet for a hand-held circular saw to follow. Leave it to Festool to design and build a complete system - track and a "Systainer" case with a plunge-cut saw with 1.8 mm thin kerf blades and riving knife that results in cuts that are twice as fast as the previous version of this saw. Festool’s redesigned Guide Rail system features recessed holes down the center so you can screw the rail to material you're gonna cut, ensuring it doesn’t shift. If you can't use the screw method, small slots in the track are for adhesive strips. Simply peel the backer off, and stick the rail exactly where you need it to make the cut. Like I said - Awesome ... show more
