  • Exact copy of the guide gear stove
Seems to be exactly the same as my guide gear stove I gave to a friend. Handle kinda sucks, door seals fell off right away but it works great for the price. Gotta burn it hot at least a couple times to burn off the nasty coating, but definitely worth it for the price. Very sturdy and good quality overall. ... show more

  • Don't buy
I could not get seller to tell me the diameter size of the pipe, not the typical size of pipe, seal around door fell off. The handle is poorly made and the and heat output not good at all. The paint drips off the pipe when it finally does get hot. Just poorly made all around

  • I'd shop elsewhere, and get something with less issues
Paint bubbles and runs down the stove first time it was used. welds are not very good and smoke leaks out. Door hinges are barely held on. Stove pipe is an odd size and hard to find extra length or elbows. The stove has the potential to be a good stove but it will need rewelded, sanded and repainted with actual high temperature stove paint. ... show more

  • Good stove if you modify it
Decent stove with some caveats. Seems to be a very close copy of the Guide Gear wood stove, so all of the same problems and modifications apply. Expect to need to do some work to this before it works well, but with some adjustments its a pretty good little stove. All of the chimney and leg parts fit inside the stove, though it is fairly heavy so you're probably not going to want to move very far. I think it's around 50 pounds. The good: It fits fairly large chunks of wood, normal size firewood logs will fit inside. You can definitely fit enough wood to have a few hours of heat. The construction is good, decent welds, thick steel door that doesn't warp. I expect this to last a long time. The bad: The chimney pieces flanges stack so that creosote will drip out of the chimney. This can be addressed by turning the chimney upside down and figuring out a different way to attach it to the stove. I used a piece of sheet metal and some hose clamps. The other major problem is the paint it's coated with. You are supposed to burn it slowly to cure the paint for the first couple of hours of use. I wasn't able to successfully do this - with normal use parts of the stove get too hot and the paint burns off, which emits toxic fumes. My solution was to just set the stove up outside and run it hot to burn off all of the paint, and then coat it with traditional stove blackening. You could probably instead use high heat spray paint, or just live with some rust. Modifications: I added a grate to the bottom of the stove using an old bbq grate for better airflow. Not strictly necessary, but does help it burn longer. The stove comes a with door gasket that immediately falls off. I tried gluing on a rope stove gasket and this actually made the stove work worse - this stove likes a lot of airflow, when the door is well sealed it sputters and shoots smoke out of the air intake holes, especially immediately after adding wood. So probably better to just not have a gasket. The bottom air intake had 3 holes. I drilled a 4th to match the top for more airflow. The chimney is 3.5 inch pipe, a different size from from what most tent stoves use. You can find automotive exhaust pipe in that size if you need more length or elbows. I added a baffle at the top to the stove opening to keep the fire in the box when opening the door. Just a piece of sheet metal wedged in there does the trick to keep the smoke from coming out. I hope the manufacture reads these and makes adjustments to the manufacturing. This thing could be really good out of the box if they turned the chimney upside down, changed the paint and improved the airflow design slightly... ... show more

  • Great camping stove for the price
Takes awhile to burn off finished coat. Easy set up and holds small rounds. Great product if it would come without the finished coat.

  • Door hinge weld is broken. There was no penetration of the door hinge weld.
Wood stove has a good solid fire box, and substantial chimney pipes. The fire box sides are properly welded. The door hinges are improperly welded, with inadequate weld penetration. The inadequate welding of the door hinges negates the rest of the product; you stove is useless, even dangerous if the firebox door falls off, Additionally, the self adhesive door gaskets fall off, and are also useless/dangerous. ... show more
