Easy to use and pretty color. We have actually purchased a second one to put in our RV. It doesn't take up much room and can easy be place in a utensils drawer. Very easy to clean. You don't have to hold it down. You put it on the can and push the button it does everything itself. I will note that it was a little tricky at first it actually cuts a small line around the outside of the top of the can. UPDATE: Well, just beyond the return date, the head of this gadget caught the edge of a can's label and then got tangled in it and came to a dead stop. We tried to pick the paper away and gently but firmly release it from the can, but its deathlike grip wouldn't yield. By the time we were able to wrestle it off the lip of the can, the head was slightly cocked from the effort. That was enough to render this $35.00 can opener into a useless utensil, even after trying to straighten the head once removed. What I thought was a dream come true turned into an expensive mistake. Unless they design a release mechanism, I would steer clear. ORIGINAL: I have resorted to using manual can openers for... well, forever, as I have never had an automatic can opener that worked for more than a minute. When I saw this, I thought it was a little spendy for a can opener, but my 69 year old hands are getting cranky, so I thought what the hell, I'll give it a try. Purchased one of these to use while working as a travel nurse. I fell in love. Super easy to use, safe to use (eliminates the sharp edges by opening side instead), extra durable, and perfectly sized for travel. Fast forward, I accidentally let the batteries corrode, so I purchased another through the "buy again" option. The new one would only open 1/4 cans. The rest of the time, it would just spin around the can endlessly without piercing the can. Customer service was a nightmare. Had to send multiple emails, photos, and videos over a few weeks to finally get a warranty replacement. I would easily give 5 stars if it were easier & qucker to either get repair or replacement through the warranty. It was so frustrating, I almost deducted 2 stars. I would purchase again because I've never found another battery-operated unit that functions as well. ... show more

So Far so Good. I have only used it a couple times but opens the can perfectly and then stops when done. It is very safe and no sharp edges on the cans. I like the size to go in my kitchen drawer and it fits my hand just right.

My title pretty much sums it all up :) I purchased this because I prefer an opener that shuts itself off. I have had the most interesting experiences trying to ‘catch’ openers that keep going! My hand eye coordination isn’t great and it will continue to get worse. Chasing my can opener around the counter top, and occasionally knocking it to the floor had to stop. I had one that stopped on its own, and I loved it right up until my husband gave it to my sister. No problem, get another one - except I couldn’t find it again on Amazon :( I found this one & decided to try it even though they are up front about it not working on all cans. This is why you should buy this: After using it a while, I wish I could remember how long. Couple weeks, month or two??? I decided to try it again on a small can. I discovered that if I really looked at where the lip of the can goes, I could get the lip of my small can in that place. A careful setting on the countertop, make sure everything still in place, & voila, it opened the can!!! It might very well do it when it’s new, I don’t know. I open any can at all, even those with finger thingies for ‘easy opening’. I tilt the opener a little, set outer edge on first, then lay it down on can. I can feel if it’s right, hit the button and wait until it stops! Get the hang of it & it’s the best opener ever. ... show more
