This rack was as advertised. It was easy to install on the existing roof rack of a 2015 RAV4. It’s pretty sturdy but it’s more suited to a basic 10 ft rotomolded kayak - not anything much heavier. The cam straps are nice and it arrived with everything I needed. It folds down nicely.

I only bouught this rack because it came with accessories. However the lashing straps are way too short! This negated the savings I thought I was getting. Now I have to buy the right length lashing straps. Buy a different one for a better deal.

These are ok mounts. I would like to see the clip at the top of the bar be solid so it holds the strap in place. The large gap in the clip makes the strap fall out very easily. The foam seems to be nice and will hold the kayak well without scratching. I feel like the bolts that hold the rack to the luggage rack on the car could use a redesign. I am not sure if the height of luggage racks is standard but I feel like this unit could scratch the roof of your car if the rack is not as high as mine. (about 2in.) Overall this rack isn't bad but since this unit is near the upper level as far as price goes, I feel like there are probably better options for your money. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I picked up this J hook for my kayak, and it's been a solid choice. Installation? Piece of cake. Just twist the knob, add the washers and knob to the connection, and you're set. Plus, it's rock solid; I even tested it with my weight, and it held up like a champ. The kit also throws in some handle extensions, which are a real bonus. They make carrying the kayak a whole lot easier, giving you that extra reach you sometimes need. But here's the kicker: the straps. They're a bit of a letdown. I'm not sure if it's just me being cursed with anything that involves ratchets, but these straps felt cheap. I barely put any weight on them, and they slipped off like they were greased up. Still, despite the strap hiccup, I'm pretty pleased with the J hook. It's reliable, easy to install, and does the job well. Maybe stash some better straps in your gear bag, just in case. ... show more

These are built really well and feel like they'll last. I love the adjustability they have and the padding to not scratch the Kayak. In the pictures it is holding the dark blue Kayak and it was great. Also in the other Pic I also have another pair of black Kayak holders also from Amazon and these are considerably bigger and are taller so it's important to have an appropriate sized strap kit to account for the added height. I'd choose these over the other generic black pair. These are also easy to assemble and lay flat when not in use. ... show more

FORWODE Kayak Roof Rack, 2 in 1 Aluminum 1 Pair J-Bar Roof Rack is a solid set of J-Style Roof Racks. I ordered this with the intention of transporting kayaks and paddleboards. This set comes with everything needed to mount the racks to an existing roof rack as well as 2 tie down straps, kayak handles, and 2 pulley style tie down ropes. The racks mount solidly to the roof rack. The angle of the J-racks are easily adjustable by the T-shaped handles on either side. I am pleased with the thick foam padding around the tubes and the rubber padding on the bottom of the rack. The rack also includes a mount to attach a kayak oar for transportation. The tie-down straps and ropes are a decent quality. At first I thought the strap buckle was not holding the straps tight, but then I realized that I had it threaded wrong. The strap should be threaded from the top of the buckle down through the spring loaded grip. The buckle, itself, is metal and feels solid, the spring loaded grip has many teeth that hold the strap tightly. ... show more
