Small gap around door, as advertised, to keep from being pried open. Sturdy metal construction as advertised. The door is very heavy and thick, unlike other safes. Great little Deterrent Safe for the average Home Invader. Overall perfect for my application. Not Waterproof or Fireproof, which is good for keeping metal contents, as moisture accumulation not a problem. A few issues. This safe has been well engineered to cover all bases. Multiple access options a great plus. However, some items are challenging . The battery compartment too small. Had to use a #1 flat blade screwdriver to pry Energizer AA batteries into place. Next, the door is too loose and does not lock tight, which would be correctable if a metal edge gard was placed over the vertical locking edge. Next, the lining is great, but covers over the mounting holes. This is tuff stuff, and it took many approaches to break through to allow supplied mount bolts to be applied. Additionally, the supplied shelf is a little tricky to relocate, particularly at the highest level as the retaining nuts limit upward motion. Lastly, it appears that a simple chisel and a hammer could knock off the front access plate, and expose the locking mechanism. I don't know and not about to find out. Obviously this is not a top of the line safe, so I wasn't expecting much for the price. However, now having bought one, the price should be lower in my opinion. The holes for securing are lacking and are only covered in side with the material clued to the wall and floor of the safe. Nothing coving the top inside. The 1 LED light inside doesn't do much good and doesn't stay on long enough anyway. Also the way the combination works is odd, having to tap an extra button instead of just entering the combo you set and turning knob. Other than those nit picky things it's actually not bad. Upon first impressions of this safe I was surprised on how good the build quality was. The inside has a nice lining and the door has a mini LED light attached so you can see inside. It's pretty simple to set the password to the safe. It comes with a set of keys and a small box that houses batteries. This box can connect to the safe if it runs out of battery and gives the screen enough power so you can enter the pin. ... show more

My home is up for sale so I needed a secure lock box large enough to accommodate my company laptop, jewelry, and some other valuables for when potential buyers and realtors are in my home snooping around. This is basically a large lock box, in other words it's not a heavy duty fireproof safe. In fact, it comes with a relatively small fireproof pouch, but that's the only thing that's possibly fireproof. The door itself is thick but the rest of the safe is not, it can certainly be drilled and opened. The lock is very easy to program up to two passwords. The touch screen is very responsive as well. The knob however, is plastic. I would have preferred metal because if you should break it off or if it cracks or melts in a fire you probably wouldn't be able to open the safe because it is not motorized and you have to turn it to unlock. Its black inside and the LED lamp inside barely illuminates the contents, so I would just leave a small pen LED flashlight in there. Two adjustable shelves are included. For those shelves I would cover them with a light colored felt material such as the one that covers the interior bottom of the safe. Two keys are included that you can use instead of pass codes and a backup battery pack in case the 4 AA batteries that aren't included are dead. It weighs around 35 pounds so I consider it light weight. You can easily pick up this safe and run off with it unless you mount it. As far as appearance is concerned, it's painted in a shiny black enamel which I think cheapens the appearance a little. A more flat finish would have been better. So if you are looking for something to protect the family crown jewels from any kind of theft, this isn't it. But it's well suited for my basic needs of deterring those with sticky fingers ... show more
