I read several reviews to decide which fryer to buy. Many talked about the oil leaking out during filtering. I believe they all had the oil over filled to begin with. There is a max line for oil indented into the black oil pan. It is about 1/3 of the fryer pan. It is very hard to see and i can see where people would just dump in oil and not see the fill line. We had no problem filtering the oil. When we got it all set up and oil in it we noticed the plastic piece was broken off on the element panel that controls it turning on. We were able to push it against the wall to use it to hold the switch on but that is not ideal so we requested a replacement. A new one was immediately shipped out. We haven’t received that one yet. Hopefully all intact without a broken piece. It says to filter the oil after each use. Definitely a must! We just used it the one time and i can see where it would clog the filter if used more than once. It was easy to take apart and clean as the element slides out and you remove the pan an wipe out any filtered residue. ... show more

    • Great product with a few minor issues
I bought this deep fryer because I love to make my own tortilla chips and dealing with the oil and cleanup was always a hassle. Using canola oil I found it takes 9 minutes to heat up to 375 degrees and can make corn chips in about 4 minutes. Hand cut fries took about 12 minutes. Some say the lid gets hot but I had no issue with that Clean up and the filtration system are great, I can put every part except the electronics in the dishwater . When the oil is cool enough a light lets you know you can filter the oil. The fryer can be turned off and the filter sensor will still work as long as its plugged in. Some quirks: The lid to the oil container is not secure. After following the instructions and pressing all sides, I got a counter full of oil when pouring it into the fryer. It takes some care to get it right, do small pours. The timer includes the heat up time so you have to reset it when you are ready to cook and there is no current temperature readout that I know of, just the ready light. It's hard to see the oil fil line in the fryer bin without a flashlight Overall: If not for those quirks I would have given this 5 stars but it's definitely worlds better deep frying in an electric pot. I would buy this again ... show more

This system could be great, but lid for the oil container is terrible. Doesn't fit tight and leaks oil everywhere!! second one I have had issues with. Kalorik customer service is less than helpful and makes you jump through hoops to try and get replacement container. Since the container leaks oil, it defeats the entire purpose of this fryer!! ... show more

    • EASY to clean!
“Traditional” deep dryers are a pain to clean. Not this one! All the oil drains in the sealed container below and the rest of the fryer parts (except for the heating element) goes in the dishwasher. No more as awkwardly pouring oil into another container; no more messes! I had another deep fryer for many years until I wore it out. I was happy to find this Kalorik product because of the digital controls. Very easy to read and use. ... show more
