This is the fuel I choose when I go camping and backpacking. It is available at many local retailers. It seems to last many trips and works for me in summer and mild winter camping trips. It makes me angry that I have grossly overpaid for this fuel on amazon in the past. At rei, a 100g canister is $4.95, a 230g canister is $5.95, and a 450g canister is $9.95. They are available for curbside pickup and it was an easy process. I am aware that not everyone has a rei locally and so shop wisely among the amazon merchants. Happy camping! ... show more

Please understand that if you are reading this review between June and Sept you'll see it's sold out. Why? Because this large size is impossible to find and its value is 2x the smaller one. I have a Weekender (Sprinter Van) and use a stove that accepts both propane and Jet Power fuel. This fuel lasts longer, controls better, burns hotter and feels more convenient to me. I do keep the smaller size handy for overnight hikes. Again, in the summer you won't be able to buy this at ANY BOX STORE!! It will be sold out so bite the bullet and order 1-2 now. ... show more

I use the 450g cans to refill the small 100g cans, which are more than enough for my typical 3-5 day trips. Refilling let's me top them off since I usually end a trip with about 40-60% remaining. I'm not going to chance it and take those back out at the start of a trip. So topping them off is like recharging your cell phone before heading out, it only makes sense. At the current price of $14 for a 450g can, that's about $3.50 per small can which is less than I can buy them locally. And I can't get the 230 or 450g cans anywhere locally. Most importantly, the Jetboil fuel is one of the best in cold weather along with MSR. Others have less propane and more butane which is not worth messing with outside of summer. ... show more

I really like this fuel. It burns efficiently and doesn’t weigh much. We found this great little heater attachment and they are great together. Helps warm us quickly when camping or on a quick day trip to the beach.

I used one large canister to heat coffee and ramen in Iraq for a solid month it still had fuel left over, in six months I used two canisters. One of them still had fuel left over when I pitched it because they would let me move with “HAZMAT”. Don’t gamble with lesser brand garbage.
