This is my first set of bumper plates, so I can only compare them to metal plates. THE PLATES WERE GRUBBY When the plates arrived, they felt dirty and tacky. You can laugh if you want, but I washed them in my kitchen sink with dish soap and a plastic brush, exactly the way you would wash a cereal bowl. That solved the problem. Now I don't want to wash my hands every time I touch them. THE PLATES HAVE A SMELL The rubber coating has a rubber smell, just like car tires. I only got two plates but I still notice the smell every time I walk into my workout area now. When I first got them, I thought the smell had a tinge of something like spoiled orange juice but I don't notice that anymore. Maybe washing them helped. OTHERWISE, A GOOD PRODUCT I have pads on the floor in my workout area, so I don't really need the rubber coating but I don't mind it either. There is a ridge around the edges of the plates on one side. I included a picture to show what I mean. It doesn't hurt anything but I notice it's there. The plates are round and heavy and lifting them will make me stronger. I am happy with the product. ... show more

    • Rubber smell
The have a potent rubber smell making it hard to keep the weights indoors. Any advice on getting rid of the smell? Anyone knows if the smell is toxic?

    • These Bumper Plates are Legit
The media could not be loaded. I tested the IFast 10 lbs bumper plates and they passed in every way. The plates are on weight. They are the right size. They have bounce to them. They are clean and odorless and look nice. They are everything you could ask for in bumper plates.

These are pretty good plates. At only $40 for the set, they are reasonably priced. The plates are a little rough around the edges. There are some small chunks of rubber missing around the very edges and the plates were a little dirty with what looks like residue from the manufacturing process. They also have a little bit of a smell to them. All that said once cleaned up a little they are decent plates. They are narrow which makes them nice to store. Purchased because of the price. All weights are the same diameter just different thickness. Not a big deal for most excercises however does limit range of motion for some landmine excercises. Markings are fine, easy to see weights.

I was excited to get these and have some olympic size plates that weren't just 45lbs in my set. Out of the box, they were covered in a strange greenish yellow powder for some reason. I wiped them down and noticed that they seem to be really scuffed up/used looking and the cuts around the edges have slightly varying widths and curves rather than a clean circle the whole way around. I have done a few sets of light deadlifts to test them out and overall they do feel fairly sturdy, but I would not feel comfortable doing cleans and dropping them. I am worried about the condition they arrived in and hope they hold up long term, but only time will tell! ... show more
