  • Exactly what I was looking for
If your carpet is not clean after using this, you're using it wrong. I've been using granulated dry carpet cleaner for more than 25 years. It used to be readily available in bags at janitorial supply stores. Unfortunately it became hard to find, and of course it is labeled under many different names and brands. I knew this is what I was looking for when I saw the complaints that made it clear they thought there are magic scrubbing goblins in the bottle who will take all your kids' and pets' grub and grime away with one little sprinkle and a Roomba run. You have to use a dry cleaning machine, or elbow grease. I've always used elbow grease. All you do is spritz any bad stains lightly with a pretreater-I use Folex- then sprinkle the granules over the entire carpet, then scrub the granules in with a stiff brush. A natural fiber deck brush is best. Vacuuming it all up is the hardest part. It does not leave a scent. ... show more

  • OMG THIS WORKS !!!!!!
I have area rugs that I have cleaned with liquid cleaners and for all the back breaking work and drying time I would rather toss the rugs than shampoo them ever again. I decided to look on Amazon to see what dry cleaning options there were available . Not really trusting the whole dry cleaning idea. I was trying to keep an open mind. I saw the Host dry cleaning product and after reading the product details and all of the reviews I decided to try it. I don’t have the Host machine so I used a carpet brush that I had. I will be the first to say I am amazed and so sorry I never tried this dry cleaning before. I will never go back to shampooing my carpets again. I have two dogs and a family that refuses to take off their shoes when they come in the house. So my rugs take a beating. HOST has cleaned every inch of my carpets so well people are going to think I bought new ones. One hour latter my carpets are dry and look new. Every stain and those high traffic areas that tell you where everyone has been, all gone. I will never get my carpets wet again!!! Host you have a new customer as long as I have carpets! Thank you ... show more

  • Great for picking up pet hair and dust.
I have used 'Host' for many years. It is superior for picking up pet hair and dust so if you have pets that leave their fur all over the place this will be very helpful. This product does not do well with stains, better stick to a wet product for that. The 'Shaker Pack' label is misleading. One would expect to see an inner lid with holes in it to shake the product onto the floor. Not so. However I did not find that a big deal; it still can easily be sprinkled out and spread with a broom. Beware the larger box of 'Host' from Racine Industries. It is a rip off copy. Racine Industries went out of business over a year ago and what is now sold as their 'Host' is not the real deal and you can't get a refund. ... show more

  • It's amazing
I don't how or why this stuff works, but it does. Every time our son comes to visit with his lovely dog, she finds a way to pee on an expensive rug. In the past (before Host) those transgressions were ours to enjoy all year every time we walked by their stains. (Don't ask. It's love me, love my dog and we definitely love him.) Then Host was recommended. I really doubted its ability but was amazed. Have a Dog pee problem, sprinkle Host on it and vacuum it up the next day. A rusty radiator pipe breaks and splashes rust all over the sisal rug -- not problem. Sprinkle Host and vacuum up the damage the next day. I often give Host as a gift. Last year I gave away my last box and then discovered it wasn't available anywhere for about 9 months. I just recently found it again on Amazon and bought it fast. I haven't had a reason to use this batch yet, so I hope nothing has changed in the formula. If it is the same, I have the magic back. ... show more

  • Very Overlooked product.
Having been in the carpet industry since the 70's I have been a fan of host for years. As a manufacturing rep I like Host because it does not soak the carpet like conventional shampoo or steam cleaning. To much moisture is detrimental to your carpets construction. Host is a true dry cleaner that does not leave a residue or damage the carpet in the cleaning process. Follow the instructions, you will be surprised with the results. ... show more

  • Not as good as expected
It doesn't clean any better than Resolve or a Woolite

  • Not Really All That "Dry"
Thought I was getting a dry carpet cleaning powder. This may be a good product but it is more of a moist plant-based product. Don't want to put it on my carpets.

  • Not overly impressed
Overall not finding this very helpful getting dirty dog footprints out of my jute rug. It can pick up very light stains well but nothing too deep.
