This was a fun afternoon activity for me and my son. But obviously not a very good value since you can buy already made root beer much cheaper. It was a little complicated to make and uses the stove top so I do not recommend this for younger kids. The root beer did taste good but it was kind of thick. I love kits where kids can make something "unusual", something that would take me too much time to put together myself (or not put together). The root beer kit fits the bill. My 11 year old and his buddie made it, on their own, and thought that it tasted "pretty good". Successful project!

We love rootbeer and we where so happy to get our kit. The kit was good but the rootbeer was terrible! The flavor was nonexistent just a mild ????? Something. I would just save your money on this one.
