I love kits where kids can make something "unusual", something that would take me too much time to put together myself (or not put together). The root beer kit fits the bill. My 11 year old and his buddie made it, on their own, and thought that it tasted "pretty good". Successful project!

This was a fun afternoon activity for me and my son. But obviously not a very good value since you can buy already made root beer much cheaper. It was a little complicated to make and uses the stove top so I do not recommend this for younger kids. The root beer did taste good but it was kind of thick. It did not make a very large quantity of root beer but was enough for 4-5 people. I would not buy this again but it’s a neat novelty. ... show more

We love rootbeer and we where so happy to get our kit. The kit was good but the rootbeer was terrible! The flavor was nonexistent just a mild ????? Something. I would just save your money on this one.

This is a complex project and if you're not familiar with cooking I don't advise you try this alone, my grandmother found it challenging so I had no shot lol! I will say the directions give you two options which are basically; the right way with full flavor, and the wrong way that technically gives you "root beer" but it's not something you'd want to show off at a BBQ. I ended up buying a second kit because my 1st attempt at the easy way was a let down. To make it properly you have to melt a good bit of sugar on the stove. So you'll need a proper pan(not sure what gram used but it was taught to clean), and you really have to be on top of it at the stove constantly working it to keep consistency and monitor temperature. I will say the ingredients were of high quality and if you know what you're doing you can make an excellent root beer. ... show more
