I bought the matte black trash can, and it's a winner in both aesthetics, functionality, and durability. It's well-made and perfect for separating trash and recycling. The foot pedals of the trash can operate smoothly, allowing for easy and effortless opening. Moreover, the lid on either side closes slowly and gently, ensuring a smooth and quiet closure every time. The included magnets help separate trash and recycling, and you can place them anywhere on the can. Despite other reviewers, my trash can came with a charcoal deodorizer included in the holder (see pictures). The freshly scented bags included fit perfectly and make lining the bins a breeze, although regular 13-gallon trash liners can also be used. The bins inside will obviously be smaller than 13 gallon since it holds both trash and recycling, but if you’re like me where a majority of your trash are recyclables, it's a win-win. I really like this trash/recycle can set up! It is not an eyesore, and I like that it included labels to designate which side is recyclables and which side is trash. Previously, we had two separate trash cans, one for recycle, and one for trash. I like that this combines the two and I’m able to have one can in one location. The whole unit itself is a little bit bigger than I thought it would be, but it’s not much bigger than a normal stainless steel trashcan you would have in your kitchen. I do wish that it was a little bit bigger. The recycle side fills up pretty fast if you don’t condense your plastics and cardboard recycling down before putting it into the receptacle. Overall, I definitely would recommend this. If you are someone who separates their trash and recyclables. You might just have to empty the cans a little more frequently than you would, if you had a singular can for each one. ... show more

    • Bags made it smell weird?

Love this trash can! But the bags that came with it made my trash can smell bad? I didn’t see anyone else leave a comment similar so I thought something I threw away left back the smell even though I had only changed it once. I ended up scrubbing the trash can and even used bleach on the second wash and it was fine after but once I put in the bag and started using it, next day smell was back. But I did have a feeling it might have been the bags because I bought my own clear bags for the recycle side and didn’t have any issues. Well, just bought new bags and problem solved. I truly like this dual trash can. It looks good, provides trash and recycling compartments, has charcoal filter slots to cut down on odor, removable bins, easily cleanable, adequate capacities. Granted, a single bin lets you keep your trash longer, but I really like the smaller size, since it forces me to take the trash out more often! My kitchen doesn't stink now. The lids closing are quiet and can be kept open when necessary. I don't understand what the hooks in the handles on the sides are for. The website says: to hang bags. I wouldn't: not aesthetically pleasing. Like some other reviewers, I too think it would have been nice if the lids were constructed to allow manual opening if need be. ... show more

I love the look of this bin! It’s the perfect size for me since I live alone and it definitely keeps the garbage smell inside the receptacle. With that, the small of the ACTUAL plastic bin absorbes the smell so when you open it it reeks. So, I’ve come to not like using it for that reason. I think it’s a great fit if you’re throwing out the trash every week (or less) versus every other week. ... show more

I was looking for a combo trash / recycle to fit along this 27" wall and this fits perfectly. A lot of other combo units I looked at had a larger and smaller bin but love how this has two equal size bins. They're the perfect size for any standard 13 gallon trash bag. The magnets are a nice touch...I've put them on the lids which makes the sides easy to identify. After my research, this model appears to be the best of old tech. The new tech is not quite ready for prime time IMHO so i bought these as i needed them now. I'm happy with their looks and function. I do wish they had a biodegradable and unscented bag choice. Scented smells nice but scents can be harmful to our health. Again, both old tech. Their bags cost twice what the good competition costs, but they have sized the bins so that you have to buy their bags. I took off one star for all of the above. ... show more
