Read the mixed reviews, which seem like either QA issues with random units or possibly electrical home wiring issues. Decided to take my chances, and pleasently surprised. First, quality: I am not experiencing any wiring heating issue described in some of the other posts. Power cord cool to touch after 24 hours of running at full heat/speed. More metal construction than I expected, and blends well with plastic pieces. So better quality overall than I was expecting, and good value for price. Second, efficiency: The little heater, although rated at 750W/1500W, is probably not as efficient as my industrial 1500W heater. I can't exactly measure the output, but heat is not as intense. That said, it warms up my little 11x20 space quite nicely. And, it is so much nicer than the square industrial heater! Third, controls: control panel is simple and works. 3 separate switches to turn on the faux log/flames (without heat), and a low and high for heating elements. And 2 knobs, to turn up/down the heat blower and dim/brighten the flames. About the only thing that is missing, compared to my $500 version in the living room is lack of a remote. Otherwise, great little space heater. Now let's see how long it lasts... if you don't see an update, it is still running! Update: so controls... you can have the flame for visual without heat, but can't have the heat on without the faux logs/flame. The light switch is also the master switch. Still working good. But a remote and thermostat would have made it great. ... show more

    • Small, portable, attractive and warm!! Everything I was looking for!!

I do my remote yoga in a finished basement room that gets very cold during our New England winters. Was looking for a small portable heater to help get the chill out of the floor when I saw this cute little fireplace and bought it before I even looked at the reviews. After reading the nightmare stories of burned outlets and melted plugs, I was afraid to plug the thing in, but since I didn’t have any big stickers on the unit (a big complaint from several people) I was hopeful that the company had addressed the complaints and made improvements. I believe I may be right. 1. No sticker was on my unit, it arrived totally clean. 2. The only assembly was the 4 legs that took me less than 3 minutes to screw onto the bottom. 3. Packaging was excellent, well padded, and everything was intact with no broken, dented or scratched areas. 4. Unit is very light and easy to move. 5. Flame lights are attractive, and the lightnbrightness is adjustable. 6. Fan and heater are in the bottom of the unit, which is perfect for blowing the heat out onto the cold floor. 7. Heat level is adjustable and automatically shuts down once the room reaches the desired temperature. 8. Fan is very quiet, even at highest speed. 9. Very attractive piece of furniture. The top stays cool and you can set your coffee or cocktail on it. 10. Plug doesn’t heat up, even after several hours of use. 11. No issues with tripping breakers I can’t speak to it’s longevity since I’ve only had it for a few days, but so far I absolutely love this little heater and am so glad I bought the fireplace instead of a plain old heater ❣️❣️❣️ Lynn in Massachusetts ... show more

    • Wow. SO frustrating. Don’t buy.

I ordered this to put in our great room because it gets really cold in the winter. It arrived on time but my first challenge was just getting it out of the box. It was taped in the bottom with really strong tape. I had to literally rip the box apart to get it out. Challenge number two was the small dent on top. Challenge three was the worst. There were two stickers covering to top corner of the heater. Why would someone put stickers in such a clearly visible place?.... After an hour of goo gone, vegetable oil and alcohol I was able to get them off but you can still see where the stickers were. Fourth challenge was figuring out how to get the heat to turn on. The instructions were confusing. The heater does work although I would prefer to return it and get something else. I can’t though because I have no box. Very frustrating experience. ... show more

This thing is terrible!!! I've only had it for three months and it almost burned my house down!! When I got it the first thing I noticed was that the switch that was supposed to switch from high to low heat didn't work (ok, I can live with that considering it would cost me more to send the unit back than it costs in the first place) so it was stuck in the LOW heat setting. Then, three months from purchase, it started emitting a horrible plastic burning smell. When I pulled the plug it was all burned black. I was amazed it didn't burst into flames. I'm sure it would have started fired if I hadn't caught it in time. A product should last more than three months in my opinion. ... show more

OK - this was a bust for its purpose. It is in no way meant for outside. So, I moved it into my master where my 21 y.o. cat sleeps all day and night. My bedroom is about 17x15. If you are looking for an electric fireplace heater, this is it! It is small but it provides a lot of heat. My home office is pretty big, located right by balcony and it is a high ceiling. It gets cold in my office pretty bad because I am a kind of person who gets cold easily. It took me a while to look for a reliable heater that would also be a nice looking. I ordered it because the price and customer feedback was good. And it has been about a week using it in my office... AWESOME! UPDATE AFTER USING FOR 6 MONTHS: I truly recommend this heater. The past winter at home was warm and not so bad with electric bill. It is really safe, reliable, nice design, and my cat loves it!
