The fan was easy to assemble. It’s a great size for a mid size bedroom. The fan on the first setting, blows a quick breeze, while oscillating side to side. The breeze is comfortable and doesn’t interfere with my arthritis. I prefer this fan because of its portability and ease of unhinging the cage to clean the blades. For this to be an inexpensive fan it performs very well. I am really happy with it. The assembling was quite easy but it was missing the screw to hold the grates together so I used a twist tie from a loaf of bread to secure it and it's fine. The blades are a lightweight plastic which gives off a wonderful stream of cool air. There are three speeds and it blows so well that I mostly have been keeping it on the lowest speed. I am going through menopause and this fan is a big help. I am seriously considering purchasing another one for my kitchen/dining area. What a great buy. I just hope it last a few years. ... show more

I assembled it, plugged it in, turned it on, and ... NOTHING! By removing the front half of the shroud I was able to get it to run by pushing the fan blade with my hand! Not very safe!! But once it's going it works fine, just glad I don't have kids or pets. I messaged the manufacturer (not Holmes themselves but they licensed the name) and they said to return it to the seller. So I'll do that and try some other brand... ... show more

Love the wire frame around the blades and the black color. The blades, housing, pedestal, and column are a light weight plastic. The fan should be durable if not moved too often. I wish the fan speed was controlled by push buttons on the base stand. Instead you must twist a small knob on top of the motor housing. This knob is too small and plastic making it difficult to turn. I also suggest a handle be attached to the back of the wire frame for easy transport of the fan. The air speed is good. The fan blades make a little noise but not to annoying or distracting. ... show more
