We purchased a water fountain for our two kitties and I’m so glad I also bought a tray to prevent water from the fountain going EVERYWHERE! You see, I had to return the first fountain since our 5 month old Ragdoll felt it was for jumping in. Out of all our kitties, this was our first to consider a fountain a play-thing. While they tray isn’t sturdy, it certainly prevents having water all over our kitchen floor. By the way, we purchased them a different fountain that our kitten could drink from, as well as his sister, without creating a pool for someone to slip and fall in. When or if water does splash on the tray, I use a towel to sop up the water because it really isn’t sturdy enough to carry to the sink while containing water. I would say it’s durable, doesn’t contain any unpleasant smell, can be used for water and food dishes, and the sides are about 1/2” high though very flexible. ... show more
