I just unpackaged this and put in my aquarium and so far, it's easy to use. The dial on top to adjust the heat moves an indicator on the side to show the temp you have it set to. My old heater was a guessing game - you adjusted the knob and hoped for the best. This is easy to read (albeit the numbers are black against a dark background) but the indicator is red or white depending on what you set it to. Suction cups are super strong. I put it on my tank and didn't like where I originally put it and had to fight with it to get it off the glass - this isn't necessarily a bad thing. A light on the heater indicates that it's on. We'll see how the heating goes...but so far so good. ... show more

I read reviews before I bought and most of them were good so I decided to give it a try. The directions said to set the temperature about 4°F below the temperature you want to that's what I did. It took about 2 hours to heat to the temperature I set it to but I wanted it warmer so turned it up where I wanted it. Took about another 30 minutes and reached desired temp. I have been watching close all day to make sure it doesn't over heat and it has been doing it's job perfectly. I would have given 5 stars if it had an on/off switch but unfortunately to turn it off to adjust temperature setting it has to be unplugged. A bit of a hassle but overall I am happy with my purchase. Bought 3 for my turtles . They work great for what I needed them for . They have to be fully submerged or will burn up . I made that mistake the first time I bought one that I didn't submerge the heater . Very easy to install . My tank is 100 gallon and keeps the water warm and comfortable for the turtles . 100w solidly keeps my 20G long tank at 78 degrees. Haven't had any issues with it in the past week. This is my own issue, but I did lose the instruction manual and can't figure out how to adjust the temperature setting.
