For cardio and strength training I don’t think you need any more weight than what this has. You can adjust the weight you want to pick up by just turning the dial to the weight you want from 5 pounds all the way up to the maximum of 25 pounds. The grip is soft but secure and the base isn’t going to slide around. You definitely will want to put it in a place out of the way so you won’t stub your toe on it because it’s not the easiest thing to pick up even if it is compact. One of my least favorite things when working out is having to switch dumbbell plates between different muscle groups and sets. These adjustable dumbbells are such a time - saver. I use them in the office all day long for some light - weight lifting. As long as you properly dock them before changing the weight, the adjustment knob is easy to turn.
